Darrel Brown

Medium-pace bowler Darrel Brown got only five ODI wickets for West Indies, but three were big names: Andy Flower, Kumar Sangakkara and Shahid Afridi.

At the time a surprise call-up - as an injury replacement - for the LG Abans Tri-series in Sri Lanka in 2001, Brown made his debut against Zimbabwe in Kandy, and bagged 3 for 21. He also played in the final against Sri Lanka three days later, but had an expensive outing.

Brown's last appearance came two months later against Pakistan in Sharjah.

A few years later, Brown was concentrating on his batting since sciatica had limited his bowling. He was the captain of the Keilor club in the Victoria Turf Association, when, in November, 2005, he took along with himself some bowlers to help West Indies in the nets while the national side was on a tour of Australia. It came to that because, for the second time in eight days, Cricket Australia couldn't provide local net bowlers to the visiting team.

Brown had even turned out for London club Dulwich in the English summer but spent the last four seasons in Melbourne, where he sought residency.
