A tall seamer with good pace, Leech made his Yorkshire first-team debut during the Bob Willis Trophy in 2020, either side of a brace of appearances for England Under-19s. He earned a recall to the first XI in July 2021 for the Roses match at Headingley, but suffered a horrific leg injury after sliding on the damp outfield and dislocating his knee after hitting the concrete base of the Western Stand. He recovered to make his Vitality Blast debut at Edgbaston in mid-2022, but further rib and foot injuries hindered his progress that summer.
