Born in Kandahar, Afghanistan, Hamidullah Qadri made headlines in June 2017 when, at the age of 16 years and 203 days, he became both the youngest player to represent Derbyshire in first-class cricket, and the first County Cricketer to have been born in the 21st Century. He instantly lived up to the faith of his coach, Kim Barnett, by bowling Derbyshire to victory on debut against Glamorgan, claiming 5 for 60 with his off-spin in the second innings to complete the county's first Championship victory for 710 days.

Qadri, who moved to England with his family when he was 10, followed that burst onto the Championship scene by making his way into the England Under-19 side for a one-day series against India, and was subsequently picked in the squad for the U19 World Cup in South Africa.
