"Sunny Jim" Mackay (1881-1953) was a heavy scoring right-handed opening batsman for New South Wales who made his debut in 1902-03. He was considered unlucky to miss the Australian tour to England in 1905. In 1906-07 he moved to South Africa and played for Transvaal, however a work accident affected his vision and ended his first class playing career. An attempted comeback when he moved back to Sydney did not bring his recall to the NSW side.
