Playing Role

Top order Batter

A top-order batter, Kirk McKenzie got his maiden call-up to the Test side in July 2023, for the two-match series against India.

At that time, he had played just nine first-class games. But that included 271 runs, with a best of 221, at an average of 90.33 in the Headley-Weekes Tri-series followed by scores of 86 and 91 for West Indies A in Bangladesh. As a result, he was handed a Test debut against India in the second Test in Port-of-Spain.

McKenzie made a promising start to his career. In his first three Tests, he crossed 20 on five occasions but could convert only one of those into a half-century, a 50 against Australia in Adelaide.
