Mitchell Wagstaff

A top-order batter who graduated from the Derbyshire academy, Mitch Wagstaff made five One-Day Cup appearances in 2021 but had to wait two summers to break into the red-ball side. When he did so, it was with his legspin that he made a mark - becoming the first Derbyshire player ever to take two wickets in their first over in first-class cricket, against Yorkshire at Scarborough. Wagstaff also scored a maiden fifty in the same game, before adding a career-best 78 in the final round of the season at Cardiff.
