Charles Ormerod Cato Pearse, who died at Durban on May 7, aged 68, was a member of the South African touring team in Australia in 1910-11, taking part in three Test matches, and narrowly missed selection for the tour of England in 1912. A stylish batsman and useful change bowler, he played at intervals for Natal from 1905 to 1924.
