Peter Anderson was a decent club cricketer - good enough to captain Hong Kong where he worked for the British police and where he was subsequently a member of the Independent Commission Against Corruption. In 1983 he joined Somerset, and in two decades as chief executive he was a vociferous defender of county cricket. He retired in July 2005, although he was still playing for his local club side at Seaton in Devon.
