Sanjeev Sharma, the former Indian seamer, has been appointed the state junior coach of Delhi for the season. Sanjeev will look after the under-15, under-17 and under-19 teams and will also be a state selector in these three categories.
Sanjeev played two Tests, one each against New Zealand and England, and 23 one-day internationals, in which he took 22 wickets. His best bowling performance came against West Indies at Sharjah in 1988, when he grabbed 5 for 26 and bowled India to a 23-run win. Sanjeev, who represented Delhi, Railways and Rajasthan, played 89 first-class games. His last stint was with Rajasthan as a player-cum-coach in 2003-2004.
In 2002, Sanjeev had his first experience as an Asian Cricket Council tournament coach with Thailand. Sanjeev was also the bowling coach last season for the Delhi junior team. "I always wanted to serve Delhi and this is a good opportunity for me to give back what I learnt,' said Sanjeev, who is also a national junior selector.
