  • 1 - Ratio of wins to defeats for England in ODIs this year. That ratio quadruples with Kevin Pietersen in charge.
  • 1.75 - India's ODI win-loss ratio under Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2008.
  • 3 - England batsmen have scored over 1000 runs since the start of 2007. Five Indian batsmen have done so, with Virender Sehwag closing in. Only two batsmen for England average over 40, Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood, while five Indian batsmen manage the same.
  • 5 - Wickets more for Harbhajan Singh to take 200 ODI wickets. The offspinner, who recently reached 300 in Tests, will become the sixth Indian bowler to reach the mark.
  • 6 - The most wickets in an innings in England-India contests. Ashish Nehra took 6 for 23 in Durban in the 2003 World Cup and Sreesanth took 6 for 55 in Indore in 2006. Neither bowler is in India's squad for the first three ODIs.
  • 14 - The runs conceded by Harbhajan in ten overs at The Oval in 2004. England still managed 307, and won by 70 runs.
  • 15 - The highest wickets for a bowler (Paul Jarvis) in an ODI series between the two sides. Jarvis averaged 16.60 in the six-match series in 1992-93. Also, the number of dismissals in seven matches for Matt Prior in the bilateral series last year, the most by a keeper in one series.
  • 19.15 - Andrew Flintoff's batting average in ODIs in India. In 13 innings, he's managed one half-century.
  • 20 - The number of sixes hit by Flintoff against India, the same Sourav Ganguly has managed against England.
  • 22.92 - Harbhajan's bowling average against England. Twenty-three of his 28 wickets against them have come at home, where he averages 18.04.
  • 28 - The number of ODIs Collingwood has played against India, the most by a player on either side in Rajkot. Sachin Tendulkar has played 34 ODIs against England but, in his absence, Yuvraj Singh, with 23 ODIs, is the most experienced Indian.
  • 30 - England wins, with 33 defeats, in ODIs against India. Since 2000, India have won 17 and lost 11 ODIs against England - nine of those wins have come in 13 home games. India won the previous contest at home 5-1.
  • 33 - Wickets for Flintoff against India, in 25 ODIs. His averages 26.03 per wicket, but it dips to 28.15 for his 13 scalps in India. In the previous ODI series between the two teams, Flintoff took ten wickets at 14.40.
  • 45 - Runs needed by Dhoni to complete 1000 runs for the year. He has scored 955 at an average of 63.66. Gautam Gambhir requires another 56.
  • 47.83 - Pietersen's ODI batting average, which is 0.42 higher than Dhoni's. Pietersen has 2822 runs from 73 innings; Dhoni, who made his ODI debut nearly a month after Pietesen, has 3793 from 107.
  • 50 - Wickets for Stuart Broad in 32 matches since January 2007, at an average of 25.14. James Anderson and Flintoff have taken 49 apiece, averaging 35.59 and 19.34.
  • 240 - Dimitri Mascarenhas's strike-rate in his innings at The Oval, when he hit Yuvraj Singh for five sixes in an over, but Mascarenhas hasn't made the squad this time.
  • 318 - Pietersen's tally in six matches in India. He averaged 53.00 and had a strike-rate of 90.08 in 2006. Marcus Trescothick scored exactly the same number of runs in the same number of innings in 2002. His strike-rate was marginally better at 104.60. England drew 3-3, while they lost 5-1 in 2006.
  • 334 - The highest total in England-India ODIs, scored by England at Lord's in 1975. India's lowest total against England came in the same game, 132 for 3, when Sunil Gavaskar carried his bat with his 36. That was a 60-over-a-side game, the best in a 50-over contest is India's 329 for 7 in Bristol last year.
  • 422 - The runs scored by Ian Bell in the previous seven-match series between the two sides. He averaged 70.33 at No. 3 during the series, a vital factor in England's 4-3 win.
