So what happened today?
As expected, an overseas allrounder got the biggest bid and even broke a few IPL records. Sam Curran's 18.50 crore bid from Punjab Kings (his first IPL team) went past the previous highest amount of 16.25 crore that Chris Morris got in 2021 from Rajasthan Royals. Cameron Green was second-highest today and even overall, going to Mumbai Indians for 17.50 crore and Ben Stokes was third on the list from top with 16.25 crore from CSK, to rejoin Dhoni and Fleming after being with them at Rising Pune Supergiants earlier.
Another England player to get a massive amount was the in-form Harry Brook, getting 13.25 crore from Sunrisers Hyderabad for his maiden IPL stint. Sunrisers also took home Mayank Agarwal for 8.25 crore, a possible captaincy candidate for them. Sunrisers had all this money because they let go of Nicholas Pooran earlier, and the WI batter was snared by Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping 16 crore compared to his 10.75 crore deal last year.

A total of 80 players were sold today for 167 crore, some got maiden IPL deals (Joe Root, Litton Das, Joshua Little, Reece Topley, Phil Salt, Will Jacks, Sikandar Raza) many got new homes (Williamson joined his ex-SRH team-mate Rashid Khan at Titans) and many more went unsold.
