Annabel Sutherland

From a storied cricket family, Annabel Sutherland is destined to be one of the stars of Australia's next generation. By 2024 she already had a Test double century to her name and had secured a big-money WPL deal with Delhi Capitals.

The hard-hitting allrounder came into international cricket early in 2020 with big expectations following glimpses of form at domestic level for Victoria and the Melbourne Stars in the WBBL. She made her debut just prior to the 2020 T20 World Cup and soon smashed 22 not out off 11 balls against England in Canberra to send the game to a super over.

Such has been the strength and depth of Australian cricket that regular opportunities were sometimes hard to come by. Her ODI debut came in late 2020 against New Zealand and her Test debut a year later against India.

Since 2023, her international game has gone to another level, particularly in ODIs and Tests. She scored a maiden Test hundred during the 2023 Ashes at Trent Bridge which was followed by a first ODI tone against Ireland. In early 2024 she produced a remarkable display in the Test against South Africa at the WACA by making 210 and taking five wickets.

In late 2023 she earned AU$364,000 at the WPL auction, making her the most expensive overseas player of the second edition.

She is the sister of Victoria men's and Melbourne Renegades allrounder Will Sutherland and the daughter of former Cricket Australia CEO and Victoria allrounder James Sutherland.
