Ruben Trumpelmann

A left-arm seamer with a host of variations in his arsenal, Ruben Trumpelmann came through the South African domestic system, but it was the switch to Namibia that helped him rise to prominence.

Trumpelmann made his List A and first-class debuts in 2017 for Northerns, followed by a T20 debut in 2018. But after three years, a conversation with Albie Morkel, who was assistant coach of Namibia at the time, convinced him to represent the country of his father's birth.

He made his T20I debut against Uganda in 2021 and was part of Namibia's squad for their maiden T20 World Cup that year. After they made it past the first round, Trumpelmann picked three wickets in the first over of their match against Scotland, after they beat Netherlands and Ireland.

Following the World Cup campaign, Trumpelmann made his ODI debut in a home series against Oman, and claimed a five-wicket haul in his second match. He showed his abilities with the bat when he made an unbeaten 55 to help Namibia seal a three-wicket win over Papua New Guinea the following year, and went on to claim another five-for, against Scotland in Kirtipur in 2023.

Trumpelmann played just the one game in Namibia's 2022 T20 World Cup campaign, but he made his way back into the team, and in the 2024 tournament, he picked up four wickets in their Super Over win against Oman.
