that is the series for India, Rohit has swatted Roach to the deep midwicket boundary, it is a no-ball as well
West Indies vs India, 3rd ODI at North Sound, Jun 11 2011 - Match Result
That will be it from us, folks. Join us for the fourth ODI on Monday at 9 am local time, till then this is Abhishek Purohit signing off, on behalf of George Binoy who brought you the first innings. Have a look at Sid Monga's bulletin here. Cheers.
Andre Russell is Man of the Match. Russell: "We wanted to be positive for this game as it was very important. I am working hard on my bowling, I am going to consider myself as a bowling allrounder. When I retire from international cricket, I want to be called a legend. I want to stay here and contribute as much as I can."
Suresh Raina: "Russell played well, he played amazing shots. Credit goes to Mishra for bowling well. We have the Tests coming up, these tracks are helpful for leggies, he has been among the wickets in the IPL and against South Africa as well. I played a bad shot, but Rohit and Harbhajan batted really well. We have a couple of guys sitting on the bench, and I hope everyone gets a chance in the last two games. God has been kind to all the boys, we had a quality meeting with the coach as we did not have much time after the IPL."
Darren Sammy: "It is a game that got away from us. Russell brought us back along with Baugh. guys were confident during lunch, but we lacked the killer instinct after taking early wickets. We have not been getting runs at the top, we just lacked the finishing touch. Kemar is one of our strike bowlers, we needed a bit extra from him, but I can't fault anyone, he has been doing a good job over the past months. If you put the ball in the right areas, you could reap rewards on this wicket."
Superb knock from Rohit Sharma as he picks up a stump as a souvenir. He has been talked up by almost everyone, and is now starting to fulfill the enormous promise. Harbhajan Singh, he has his own methods, but he also has loads of fight. Which is what Andre Russell showed as well, with a blazing unbeaten 92, but it did not prove to be enough.
India needed 134 when Yusuf Pathan fell, with only four wickets to go. Even more remarkable than India's win is the ease with which the West Indies attack fell apart, epitomised by Kemar Roach spraying the ball around
Arnie sums up the game: "What similarity in the 2 scorecards... one of the opener getting to 40s, one batsmen getting over 80 and one lower order batsman supporting with a score around 30-40."
Krish: "A coming of age innings from Rohit, but not to forget the performance from the tail. With Ashwin knocking down the door for the off spinners spot, Harbajan is seriously added batting to the column of his strengths. And of course, pressure easing quick fire cameo from PK. Most satisfying victory from the second string Indian team."
slightly off the mark goes the yorker, Rohit manages to guide it past point and well wide of third man for a couple
fires in the yorker, Rohit stays in the crease to dig it with an open face backward of point
for once Rohit is not throwing it away, and that is pleasing to see, shuffles and flicks for a single through midwicket
smack! there is not much of a gap at covers, but Rohit showcases his class by making room, opening the face to crash a full delivery through that narrow gap
almost in the blockhole, Rohit digs it back to the bowler who wants to throw it on to the non-striker;s stumps, PK scurries back
front foot push from PK but the off side close men are on the edge of the circle and he too gets an easy single
the leg side field is pretty deep and Rohit picks up an easy single with a clip through vacant midwicket
shuffles across and opens up completely, Pollard gets some bounce but he is able to nudge for a single to square leg
Pollard comes on, long on and deep midwicket in place
Logan: "Should India go on to win this one, Rohit Sharma's spot in the one-day squad should officially be solidified; what a wonderful performance, balanced with composure and professionalism, in an incredibly pressurized situation."
Rachit: "I think its time to rename the undying spirit from Australianism to Indianism !!!"
now PK picks up a run, shuffling to tuck it to short fine leg
direct hit and Rohit could have been gone, he flicked to square leg and set off right away, Sammy missed at the non-striker;s
goes for a fuller length, PK is not in control as he tries to force it down the ground but still picks up the single to long on
PK is doing it without any fuss, good old swiping, front leg goes out of the way, and he flat-bats a length ball even flatter over long off
cut from close to the body for a single wide of point
PK wants the run, he wants it dearly, Rohit is not even looking at him after taking a short of a length ball on the body, even as the ball rolled towards point, PK hastily applied the brakes and shifted in to reverse
Deemi: "A TALE OF TAILS today, as one team was 96-7 at one stage and the other, 92-6."
tries the yorker around middle and leg, Rohit calmly pats it past the non-striker for a single
they take on mid off with a tight single, if the throw was to the non-striker;s PK could have been in trouble, but Rohit makes it at the other end even as the throw comes in to Baugh
this is pretty poor stuff from Roach, another wide sprayed way down leg
swipe! slower one from Roach, but it is too short and PK gets front leg out of the way to send it soaring over mid off with a neat agricultural scythe
makes room and wants to go through cover with a forcing punch but cannot beat the infield
