General
Gavaskar became the first played to make 100 consecutive Test appearances.
Jones's 210 was the highest score by an Australian in a Test in India. It took 503 minutes, 330 balls and included 27 fours and 2 sixes. He had to be treated in hospital after the completion of the innings for exhaustion.
More suffered food poisoning and left the field after 50 minutes play on the first morning. Pandit deputising as wicket-keeper.
