New South Wales 3 for 283 (Warner 148, Maddinson 92, George 3-78) v South Australia
David Warner added 233 with his opening partner Nic Maddinson to put New South Wales in control of South Australia at 3 for 283 after day one of the Sheffield Shield match at Bankstown Oval in Sydney.
Warner's 148 was his third first-class century in 2011, as he maintains his push towards Test match selection for Australia, and Maddinson was no less impressive as SA's attack was blunted on a flat pitch after the Blues had won the toss.
The Redbacks would have endured an even bleaker day without Peter George's tall seam and swing bowling, as he struck three times in the final session to give the visitors some hope of further inroads on the second morning. Play will begin early after 19 over were lost to bad light.
Of SA's other bowlers Cullen Bailey delivered his leg breaks with economy, but Gary Putland, Daniel Christian and Joe Mennie were all taken for plenty of runs.
