Warriors and Lions played out a dramatic tie in East London, within two days after Warriors had tied with Dolphins in Port Elizabeth. Sohail Tanvir looked to be swinging the visitors to victory but with two required from the final delivery, Tanvir was run out and the spoils were shared.
Tanvir arrived at the creased with 22 needed in 15 balls and he hoisted a six over long-on to leave 10 needed from the final over. He found the fine leg boundary but just failed to find another five runs in four balls, Rusty Theron holding his nerve with the ball.
Earlier in the innings, Gulam Bodi had slugged 78 in 57 balls to set up the chase before substitute Ayabulela Gqamane remarkably held five catches to dismiss the middle order cheaply. His efforts ensured the batting of JJ Smuts - 73 in 54 balls - did not go to waste for the Warriors.
A four-wicket haul from Malusi Siboto and fifties from Dean Elgar and Pite van Biljon led Knights to a convincing seven-wicket win against Titans in Centurion to keep their hopes alive for knockouts. This was Knights' second win from six matches to keep them on fifth place, while Titans have won three out of five and are third.
Asked to bat, Titans were 49 for 4 by the ninth over before Farhaan Behardien and Albie Morkel revived the innings with an 87-run stand. Siboto dismissed Behardien, for 21, and David Wiese in the 17th over and took two more in his next over as Titans could score only 12 runs in the last four overs as they were all out for 148. Morkel scored a 32-ball 66 with four fours and seven sixes.
Knights lost their openers by the sixth over for 24 but Elgar and van Biljon put together 120 runs in 13 overs to put them on course for the win. Elgar fell for 66 in the 19th over bu Knights took only four more deliveries to finish the chase with van Biljon remaining unbeaten on 61.
An early burst from Beuran Hendricks went a long way to securing an easy victory for Cape Cobras at the Dolphins. Two wickets with his first three balls and a third strike in his second over saw Dolphins terminally hampered in their pursuit of 158.
Hendricks had Morne van Wyk pulling to deep-square leg before Cameron Delport mistimed a drive to be caught the very next ball. Cody Chetty lasted only seven balls and from 11 for 3, Dolphins never really recovered despite 48 in 36 balls from Daryn Smit.
Cobras' total was built around JP Duminy's half-century but he was run out before causing late damage. Robbie Frylinck's excellent return of 3 for 21 kept the target in check.
