Neil McKenzie's unbeaten 46 and his 60-run, fifth-wicket partnership with Temba Bavuma helped Lions stay unbeaten in the tournament with a six-wicket win over Warriors. McKenzie and Bavuma ensured that the early advantage created by the Lions bowlers, who limited Warriors to 126 for 7, stayed firmly with the side, despite a few wobbles that reduced them to 70 for 4.
Earlier, Warriors were hit by Chris Morris' quick strikes early in the innings and they pulled themselves out of a shaky 55 for 5 through a 56-run, sixth-wicket stand between Christiaan Jonker and Simon Harmer. While Jonker was dismissed for 25, Harmer finished the innings unbeaten on 38 off 26 balls.
Kieron Pollard scored an unbeaten 56 and took two wickets in the last over to help Cape Cobras edge past Titans by four runs in Durban. Pollard's half-century had provided the late flourish to Cobras' innings after they were put in to bat and the allrounder helped the side accumulate 58 runs off their last four overs, building on knocks from middle-order batsmen Dane Vilas (32) and Omphile Ramela (31).
The Titans chase suffered a few early blows but Dean Elgar and Qaasim Adams put them on track with a 78-run, fourth-wicket stand. Adams targeted Pollard, taking 21 runs off his second over to bring the equation down from 87 off 42 to 66 off 36. Ferisco Adams, however, provided a key breakthrough, getting rid of Dean Elgar for 24 and Dane Paterson did his bit in the next over, dismissing Adams for 68. Mthokozisi Shezi gave away 17 runs in his penultimate over to leave Titans with 11 to get off the last six balls. David Wiese hit a six off the first ball but fell to Pollard off the next and the wicket of Darren Sammy three balls later sealed the win for Cobras.
The Dolphins v Knights game was washed out after a four-for from Andre Russell helped skittle Dolphins for 82. The teams got two points each. It was the currently fourth-placed Dolphins' first no-result, and second-placed Knights' second.
