IRE WMN vs BAN Women, 2nd T20I at Bready, , Sep 06 2016 - Ball by Ball Commentary

ABANDONED
2nd T20I, Bready, September 06, 2016, Bangladesh Women tour of Ireland

Match abandoned without a ball bowled

12:00pm Well it's a bit of an anti-climax I'm afraid, the outfield just hasn't improved enough and there isn't a chance of a game being played in the time that's available. So with that decision Ireland win the series 1-0.

I'm sorry that we haven't managed to get any play today. Hopefully the ground will dry enough for the other game in the double header, Ireland vs Hong Kong which is due to start at 3:30pm. So its bye for now.

11:15am The Umpires have been out to have a look and they still aren't happy with the state of the outfield. So they are going to have another inspection at 11:40am. The same as yesterday we need to be underway by 12:55pm for a 5 over a side. Well I suppose we can still be hopeful can't we?

10:15amThe news from the middle isn't great I'm afraid, there are a couple of areas on the outfield which are very wet and the Umpires are going to have another look at 11:00am. It's going to be a delayed start again.

9:45am Good morning and welcome to the second match in the KPC group T20 series between Ireland and Bangladesh, we are back again in Bready today. Hopefully the weather will be better today than it was yesterday and we will get off on time this morning. It's Justin here again and hopefully we will have more action to commentate on today then we had yesterday.

Ireland had the better in yesterday's low scoring 10 over shoot out. Claire Shillington blasted away at the top of the order and helped Ireland to 54, which at the time seemed like a below par total. Although Bangladesh started off slowly and were always behind the scoring rate, with some excellent bowling from Lucy O'Reilly in particular at the death meant when they needed to accelerate they couldn't.

With both teams batting struggling yesterday it will be interesting to see if either team will decide to change their teams today. I'm sure that both teams will be looking to bat better and have more than one player reach double figures.

Bangladesh will want to even up the series before they move onto a couple of ODi's at the end of the week. Ireland go into today's game knowing that a win today will sweep the series and produce their own "greenwash"

The toss is supposed to be 15 minutes away however it looks like we are going to have a delayed start this morning. There had been a little bit of rain overnight and not much sun again this morning. So the Umpires are wondering around the outfield whilst the blotter goes up and down. When I get some news I will let you know.
