And the Heat celebrate a comprehensive 34 run victory to win the 2012/13 Big Bash League!

A stirling effort with the ball and in the field kept the Scorchers hitters at bay. Short pitched bowling tactics worked wonderfully well for the visitors and once the Scorchers run rate required got above 12 an over they were never able to pull it back.

Kemar Roach produced his best figures of the tournament with three for 18 off his four overs, while McDermott and Cutting nabbed a couple each. Nathan Hauritz set the tone with a miserly first two overs, conceding just 4 runs.

He went on to take three wonderful outfield catches too.

Dan Christian's 37 off 21 balls got the Heat through to a competitive total, while their top scorer, Joe Burns' 43 off 27 was equally important. One can't forget Luke Pomersbach's run a ball 37 too.

Nathan Hauritz is surprisingly named Man of the Match. A fair recipient of the award despite not even taking a wicket. His RPO and outfield was of the highest quality.

Chris Lynn wins the Rising Star award as voted by the umpires.

Aaron Finch was already named Player of the Series at the conclusion of the round robin.

Chris Hartley, the Heat's skipper for the final, calls all his players up on stage to receive their winners medals before he is presented with the trophy.

What a fantastic achievement for the Heat to come into the play-offs in the back door and go on to take the title. They finish the form team of the tournament and their coach Darren Lehmann should take a big rap for their efforts too.

Thanks for joining us here at ESPN Cricinfo for coverage of the 2012/13 BBL. The Heat and Schorchers will advance through to the Champions League later this year.

Please join me again tomorrow for the New Zealand domestic HRV Cup Final between the Otago Volts and the Wellington Firebirds from the University Oval in Dunedin. This is Marc Ellison signing off
