short on fourth stump, pulls this flat through wide long-on and it skittles to the rope for a boundary to end the match. It'll only count as a single though because the batters crossed for the winning run before the ball reached the rope. But what's not in dispute is that the Royals romp to victory by eight wickets with 24 balls to spare. In fact, a late decision came in and de Kock will be given four runs for his effort. Not a bad way to end the match.
Trinbago vs Royals, 16th Match at Port of Spain, CPL, Sep 13 2022 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Royals won by 8 wickets (with 24 balls remaining)
10.20 pm So the form for both sides this season holds up. Royals win in dominant fashion to maintain their undefeated record and a stranglehold on first place with six wins out of six. Knight Riders meanwhile lose yet again to remain firmly entrenched in last place.
Kyle Mayers is named Player of the Match for his bruising 79 off 36 balls: "To be honest, just staying positive and going through my routines like normal. Staying myself and enjoying the team and doing my best. I always try to be as aggressive as possible and capitalize on any loose deliveries and put the bowlers under pressure. It's a tough job but it can be easy if you operate properly and do the right things. The team environment is very good. The guys on the bench are eager to get a chance and play. Guys are gelling fast, even the ones who have come in late. [On Mujeeb] I couldn't wait for him to come in. He's in a bit of good form too so I'm happy for him."
That's it for tonight's live coverage. Come back tomorrow for more CPL action. Until then, I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
