length delivery, angling down the leg, Aparajith pushes it to mid-on
South Zone vs North Zone, Final at Kochi, Oct 17 2013 - Ball by Ball Commentary
2:42pm: Welcome back, umpires inspected the ground and decided to call it off. Bad weather and poor ground condition finally serves up joint winners of 2013/14 season of Duleep Trophy. It's the fourth instance in the history of Duleep trophy when the title has been shared. Previous instances (West Zone / South Zone, 1963-64), (North Zone / West Zone, 1988-89), (Central Zone / West Zone, 1997-98). It's been a frustrating couple of weeks for the fans, starting from the first semi-final where winner was decided by toss of coin then. In the finals we witnessed only 10 overs in five days, not a pleasant way to end things off for a premier domestic final, yeah not in our hands! But at the same time we must acknowledge the effort made by the ground staff who worked extremely hard and tried their best to clear the water and to dry up the outfield. Thanks for following the game and for your comments. This is Kumar Chandan Duorah signing off, cheers!
North Zone and South Zone declared joint winners.
Day 5: Good morning everyone. Welcome back to our live coverage of the Duleep trophy final between North Zone and South Zone. And we continue with the same old story (Rain/wet outfield), Kochi had a morning shower and start is again delayed, rather will say the inspection. It is scheduled at 2:30pm. In other news Unmukt Chand flies back to Delhi due to dengue fever.
10:20am: Early decision coming out. VB Chandrasekhar had a talk with Shastri and Hazare and they decided to call it off for the day. Covers are still there and lot of water on it, sluggish and it's too wet that it's not going to dried up by the end of the day also. Sun is not beating hard and overcast conditions finally ends day 4 too without a ball bowled. As of now 350 overs been lost and we have a day to play. Umpires will decide the use of reserve day based on the conditions tomorrow. We are going to have a 15 minutes early start on day 5. Till then take care, bye!
9:02am: It's day 4 of the Duleep Trophy final and no good news to share with you guys. Overnight shower there in Kochi and again start is delayed to out wetfield. Umpires decided to inspect the ground at 12:00pm.
ian jones: "it seems amazing that such an important domestic match is played at a stadium, with no proper drainage system and not enough covers. Did it not occur to the authorities to bring in extra covers after what happened at last weeks match. Also one could question the choice of venue, given that the rains affect this area at this time of year"
SAHEED P P : "This is absolutely stupid things to have a four day mach in Kochi during this southwest monsoon season ! Even a long and sparse weather forecast give you rain in Kochi during this time !"
2:47pm: The outfield looks quite damp and groundsmen still on work. Hazare with Shastri and Pathak had a good look of it and decides to call it off for the day and that's stumps on Day 3 without a ball bowled.
Ratul: "I live in Kochi. Yesterday there was heavy shower in the evening for about 40 minutes and a bit of rain in the night. But it has been sunny since morning today. Yesterday as well it was sunny for the whole day. Don't know what is the ground made of."
12:30pm: Welcome back, the umpires have come out and made an inspection. They have decided to have an another look after the lunch at 2:30pm. The groundsmen are working hard to dry up the outfield, the heavy roller is on too. There was a heavy shower last evening which has affected the outfield a lot.
Day3: Good morning everyone. Welcome back to our live coverage of the third day's play. Once again the start has been delayed to wet outfield and an inspection is scheduled at 12:00pm.
Rishi Dhawan replacing Mohit Sharma. However umpire stopped him to check the light. And that's it, players are walking back to the pavilion due to bad light. Umpires decided to call it off for the day and it's stumps on day 2.
