37.6 to Aftab Ahmed, It was a fluent drive. I thought it was going to go to four. Instead, it goes to the man at sweeper cover. Fullish, outside off and he drove it uppishly over cover. Nel moves to his right , swoops low to take the catch.. 160/5

13.4 to Javed Omar, Gone! Slashes away to his peril. Short of length and outside off, Omar's eyes lit up at the width, has a slash but it flashes fast but straight to Smith at Gully.Omar falls after a patient knock. He has laid the platform. Can the rest do something with it? Time will tell.. 42/1 17.1 to Habibul Bashar, Super reflex catch. Full in length, on the middle stump line, Bashar drives uppishly to right of Nel who is in the middle of his follow-through. No problem though. He stretches his right hand out and the ball nestles into his palm.. 59/2 19.5 to Tamim Iqbal, For the first time Tamim tried heaving over the leg side while advancing down the track. He didn't quite pull it off. Ended up nicking it to Boucher. He ran down the track to a back-of-length delivery and tried to pull but ..... 69/3 47.2 to Mashrafe Mortaza, Nel comes up with a super yorker. Full, straight, homing in on the middle stump. Mortaza tries to bring his bat down but the ball evades the blade and the furniture is disturbed. A nice little cameo comes to an end.. 233/7 49.1 to Mohammad Ashraful, Would you believe it? There was no short fine leg, just a regulation deep fine leg. Ashraful shuffles across, paddles a low full-toss, connects sweetly and it flies straight to that man in the deep. Did Ashraful not see that the man was standing back or ...? Five-for for Nel who has impressed today and sent out a notice to the selectors. But what a gem of a knock from Ashraful. Delightful and Yummy!. 248/8

23.4 to Shakib Al Hasan, Another one caught behind point. It was banged in short, rises up shoulder-level, just outside off, Saqib went back, hopped up, tried to get on top of the bounce but couldn't. And he ended up patting it straight to Smith at backward point.. 84/4

5.4 to GC Smith, That's the mistake they were waiting for. Smith backs away from his stumps, Rasel keeps it straight on off. Smith realises he has gone too far outside off and tries to glide it to third man but misses and loses his off stump. Rasel is ecstatic. This is a big one for Bangladesh and do they know it. 18/1 15.4 to JH Kallis, Big wicket. Kallis falls. Lands on a length, goes with the angle, on the off and middle stump line, Kallis tries to heave it away, over the bowler, ends up dragging it towards mid-on. A dolly of a catch and Bangladeshi fielders erupt in joy. Rasel pumps his fist, Rahim runs towards him. The tigers are beginning to roar.. 63/2

16.5 to AB de Villiers, Razzak strikes with a lovely change of pace delivery. Slow through the air, lands on a length on the middle stump line and goes on straight with the arm. de Villiers is beaten by the lack of pace, then tries to cut it to thirdman and is beaten by the arm-ball. The middle stump is pegged back. Razzaq is ecstatic, Rahim ... well.... is over the moon. All the fielders converge. Bangladesh are on top here. England and West Indies will be extremely interested in this one.. 64/3 46.1 to CK Langeveldt, And then they were one. Plumb. Landed on the middle stump line, went straight on, the bat came outside the line and the ball thudded into the back pad. In front of middle. Bangladesh inch closer to a famous win.. 162/9 48.4 to M Ntini, Another famous win for Bangladesh. The players hug each other. This is definitely bigger than the win against India. SA were ranked no 1. No longer though. Now they slip to the second position. Tossed-up on the stumps, Ntini tries to flick it to the on side, gets a leading edge which balloons over cover. Mortaza runs back and takes it. The players mob each other. Stumps are grabbed as souvenirs. The show has just begun for Bangladesh. The celebrations will go long in the night in Dhaka and other parts of Bangladesh. They have a devoted contigent who live outside the country. This will be a special moment to all of them. This is Sriram Veera, signing off for Cricinfo. Good bye and good luck.. 184/10

37.3 to A Nel, Classical left-arm spinner dismissal that. Flight and loop, unlike the quicker ones that preceeded it. Nel tries to push it back again but is beaten by the flight and only manages to tamely pop it back to the bowler. Rafique is waiting and plucks off a good low catch, throws the ball up in celebration and is mobbed by his team-mates. Rafique da, that old warhorse, knows a thing or two about this game, it seems. 137/8

26.4 to MV Boucher, but not this time! Boucher goes! Again he shimmies down the track, again the bowler smartly fires it a little wider, he's not to the pitch of it but goes through with an attempted chip over the infield, gets under it, and ends up scooping it tamely down long-off's throat! Bangladesh on fire!. 87/5 26.5 to JM Kemp, gone! Saqibul! Wow! Fires it in on middle and leg, the ball doesnt come onto the bat at all, Kemp loosely drives back down the track, leaden-footed, and Saqibul moves quickly to his right and pouches it, getting into a tangle with Prince, running for Gibbs, at the other end, but he's got two in two! South Africa in dire straits! What a game, this cricket!. 87/6 |
