Brendon McCullum plays the hero again but in more trying circumstances. He remains unbeaten on 69 and New Zealand claim a clean-sweep of the Twenty20s. Nothing to differentiate the two sides today. Credit to India for nearly defending 150. Just a reminder that Rohit Sharma was in the field for Ishant Sharma who injured his shoulder while fielding.
This close contest nicely sets up the five one-dayers. Stay with us for the presentation.
Dhoni: "The approach was good but we could have played better. The two-three wickets we lost in the middle were crucial. The spinners bowled well. There was chat around the camp to bowl one more seamer. I can't really update you on Ishant's injury."
Vettori: "Pleased with the bowling effort. Guys like Ryder stepped up really well. We had an opportunity to attack their fifth bowler but it didn't work. I thought Irfan bowled superbly at the end. But I thought those two fours by McCullum were crucial."
Brendon McCullum is the Man of the Match. He gets the champagne.
Thanks for your company and the mails. We'll be back for the 1st ODI in Napier on March 3. It's a day-night game. From all of us here, it's goodbye!
Rohit runs back and nearly pulls off a catch running backwards! McCullum flat-bats a length ball and mishits it over the off side, Rohit is a little too close at mid-off and the ball beats him in the air as he runs back, he fails to get a hand to it, really Brendon McCullum would have had his heart in his mouth, nevertheless, it's been a terrific game
The scores are level. Now it appears as if we have crowd trouble again. What a shame. There's a bit of debris on one side of the ground. If it's a tie we have a Super Over. Everyone in the ring
McCullum goes one better! The ball is pitched up on middle and leg, he scoops it over the bowler's head and long-off dives in despair
McCullum gets under this pitched up ball and swings over midwicket, that's a cracker of a shot
Irfan gets it right again, he bowls another unplayable inswinger on the off stump and he digs it out to the off side
full and swinging in and he fails to put away the yorker, the ball rolls to the on side
A bit of confusion here. Someone from the crowd has flung something in Zaheer's Khan direction and Dhoni has a word with the umpire. Did we need this? Dhoni maneuvers the field.
swings it on the pads, the ball clips the pads and rolls to the on side, they scamper a single
12 needed off the last over, the tension mounts! Here's Irfan again
that was slammed through the off side like a tracer bullet, shades of Klusener! The fielder at sweeper cover had no chance
swing and a miss, the ball is much shorter
and it's Irfan again, Broom gets on his knee to a flighted delivery and tries to slog him over midwicket but the top edge is skied to Irfan at midwicket
Broom finds the gap, he makes room to a full ball and slams it wide of backward point on the front foot
makes room and slams it just wide of cover, all power
steps down and smacks him wide of cover, the ball dares to beat Raina but he times his dive to perfection and saves 2 precious runs
Interesting move. Here's Yuvraj. 23 needed off 12. Anyone's game
