All over! Banged in short on the body and Unadkat looks to fend it into the off side, finds gully, didn't look too comfortable against the short one and it seemed it was only a matter of time
South Africa vs India, 1st Test at Centurion, Dec 16 2010 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Handshakes all around, a comprehensive win for the hosts. Tendulkar remains unbeaten and walks off to applause from the crowd and the South African team. A brave effort from India in the second innings, though Laxman and Raina could have done far better, but the deficit was huge and that first-innings capitulation was too abject to compensate for. South Africa lead the series 1-0, we go to Durban for the second Test on the 26th, Boxing Day. Join us in a short while for the presentation.
India's score of 459 is the highest ever in an innings defeat, I am told.
Wonder what's taking them so long to get the presentation ceremony ready, but do check out ESPNcricinfo's Youtube channel.
Dhoni: "The deficit was too much to handle, and South Africa got too many runs. It was a good show by the batsmen in the second innings. After they won the toss it was a job half done, but they had to bowl well and they did. Most of the batsmen got off to a good start in the second innings, that's a big positive. But there are grey areas. Our bowling has to improve, and we are looking forward to having him back in the side. I've lost quite a few tosses, but it's important now to take some time off and then get back into the groove."
For his first double-ton, Kallis is the Man of the Match.
Kallis: "It was a very special moment. It was a good all-round effort from us, we put in a good performance on day one which put us ahead of the eight-ball. Centurion is a big scoring ground and we came into this Test looking to be very positive with both bat and ball."
Smith: "Obvioiusly very happy, it's a big series, the build-up has been big and it's nice to come out and secure a big win.The bowlers did very well and bowled in the right areas on the first day. We wanted to be positive in our first innings, and to take the game forward like that, the way the batsmen played, it was great Test cricket. We've had terrific support from the fans, looking forward to Christmas with our families and then on to Durban."
Harris and Morkel have been given a memento for getting 100 wickets in Tests.. Fridges, actually.
That's all for today folks. Thanks for tuning in and join us again on Boxing Day. Bye bye. Oh, and before I sign off, here's the bulletin for the brief, final day.
