19.4 to N Rana, sees Rana stepping out and bowls a wide, full slower ball. Reaches for it and ends up playing a halfway shot - a checked lofted chip, and it ends up ballooning straight into extra-cover's hands. 130/5

12.1 to S Dhawan, bowled him, I think he was playing for the offbreak there. It was the offbreak out of the hand, but it just kept going with the angle into the stumps, a bit of natural variation. Quite full, and it sneaks under the attempted slog-sweep to peg back leg stump. 81/2 16.4 to SV Samson, that's an unusual dismissa. Down the track, Akila sees him coming and shortens the length of this leg-stump legbreak. Stretches out to try and block it, and he ends up squeezing the ball between bat and pad, and it rolls behind him and hits the stumps. 104/4

15.3 to D Padikkal, and now he misses one. Conventional sweep this time, looked to clear his front leg a little and sweep it in front of square from outside off, and the legbreak spins past his inside edge to crash into off stump. 99/3
2 | 0 | 14 | 1 | 7.00 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
6.6 to RD Gaikwad, first wicket for Sri Lanka. A short ball from Shanaka. Gaikwad goes for the pull but ends up top-edging it straight up. An easy catch for the keeper who only had to take a couple of steps forward. 49/1

2.4 to WIA Fernando, here's the breakthrough. A length ball on middle and leg, Fernando goes for the pick-up shot but ends up hitting it higher than he intended. Ends up skying it towards fine leg where Rahul Chahar takes it near the boundary line, lobs it up in the air before stepping out and then comes back in to complete the catch. 12/1
3.4 | 0 | 34 | 1 | 9.27 | 8 | 5 | 0 | 1 | 0 | |
17.2 to RTM Mendis, back of a length, not short enough to pull, ends up hitting it high and straight down the throat of deep midwicket. This one seemed to skid on to the batter and cramp him for room. 105/6
4 | 0 | 18 | 1 | 4.50 | 10 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
6.6 to S Samarawickrama, castled. A length ball just outside off, was a googly from Varun. Sadeera failed to pick it, was neither forward nor back and ball sneaked through the gap between bat and pad to hit the middle stump. 39/2
4 | 0 | 27 | 1 | 6.75 | 8 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
14.6 to PW Hasaranga, tossed up wide of off stump, and he's got his man. Makes him reach out to try and drive over the covers, but he's beaten in the air. Dip and turn, and he slices it straight into backward point's hands. Chahar yells out something as Hasaranga walks past, and the batter responds by clapping his bat, possibly ironically, who knows. 94/5

9.1 to MD Shanaka, stumped! A length ball on middle and leg stump, Shanaka was way down the ground too early and Kuldeep dragged his length back, which means it spun past the batter and an easy stumping for Samson. Called a wide but you can be stumped off a wide. 55/3 11.4 to M Bhanuka, tossed up fairly wide outside off, has to drag the slog-sweep against the turn, and that's a challenge given this pitch and the long boundaries. Doesn't really get hold of it, and it's a simple catch at deep midwicket. 66/4 |
