full, on the pads, clipped away crisply to the square leg boundary

Bolstered Supergiants secure vital win
11.45pm A third win in nine games for Rising Pune Supergiants. Does that finally mean they're actually rising, does this turn their season around in some way? We will see as this season progresses. There's still a long way to go. Hope you've enjoyed our coverage. Do keep joining us, and sending us feedback. Until next time, good night!
Ajinkya Rahane is the man of the match: "We decided that one batsman has to bat through, and it was my day. First six overs was important, ball was coming on nicely, and then it got slower. Just looking to keep it simple. If I get set, if I get to 15-20 I look to bat deep, that's what the team wants from me."
MS Dhoni: "The bowlers were bowling to the plan. It felt nice to restrict them to 160. We can take a lot of positives, because it was the bowling we were a little worried about. The execution was much better, they bowled to the field. If you keep the death overs aside, you have to bowl to the field. In the death overs, I feel the good bowlers are those who double-bluff the batsmen. It was a bit uncomfortable in the middle, their spinners bowled well, the wicket got slightly slower, Mishra bowled well, Tahir bowled well, overall it was a well-earned victory for us. When you have lost five games, it's important to take whatever comes your way. This victory was very much needed, gives us that bit of confidence."
Kuldeep: "For all those criticizing Rahane, based on his SR he would have made 158 if he played 20 overs himself. Account for extras and you have the target of 163 achieved!!! Stop criticizing him!!!"
Shrikant: "Bhatia's 4-0-22-2 was an incredible performance. Hope it gets a highly deserved recognition."
Naman: "Not having either Zaheer or Morris in the side hurt Delhi."
Anil: "Poor captaincy from Duminy to not use Negi or Brathwaite and continue to bowl Shami whose first two overs were very costly and lacking intuition."
Kiran: "An anchor role only works if your big hitters deliver. Rahane has been doing more or less what Gambhir has been doing for KKR, but while the KKR big hitters have backed up their opener, the RPS counterparts haven't done it until tonight."
JP Duminy: "We stumbled a bit in the middle part of our innings, could have had 20 runs more. We did well with the ball to take it to the last over. A few errors, a few missed opportunities, but still a lot of positives to take out of it. [I could have continued with Tahir, but] we'd spoken about Shami bowling the last two overs in the death overs. We only went in with two seamers, so we needed to use the legspinners wisely, so we had to keep Imran for the last eight overs."
11.30pm This was shaping up to be a very interesting contest, with Tahir and Mishra choking the runs and putting a lot of pressure on Rahane and Dhoni. It took one big over to tilt the match decisively, and it came off Mohammed Shami. Well played in the end by Rahane, but he may not have been able to coast like he did had Daredevils made 10-15 runs more, which could have happened so easily had Billings or Brathwaite batted a little longer
slower ball close to off stump, Perera slogs too early, miscues it in the air, wide of extra cover, and the fielder runs to his right, catches it, and looks up to see the umpire signal no-ball. Big no-ball too.
Three to get off the last over. Perera is on strike. Shami has the ball. Lots of adjustments being made to the field. Around the wicket.
wide googly again. Perera slogs across the line, toe-ends it and it's racing away behind the wicket before Pant dives to his right from short third man to stop it
length ball on the stumps, and Perera clears his front leg and sends it soaring over deep midwicket
is that a missed stumping? It was the quick googly, and it snuck between Perera's legs as he missed the flick, and Samson fumbles, but Perera hadn't stepped out of his crease
googly wide of off stump, and that's the perfect ball for a leggie to bowl to Perera, but what do you do when he fetches it from wide outside off and slogs it high and clean over long-on
full outside off, dragged to long-on with a lot of bottom hand
Thisara is the new man. Rahane is on strike.
what a catch that is! Dhoni slogged at this flattish length ball, didn't hit it too well, didn't hit it too badly, and it could have gone for six if Sam Billings, running to his right, had not leaped across to pluck it out of the air, above his head, and go tumbling to the ground and come up with the ball still stuck in his hands
Tahir to bowl his final over. He can put some pressure back on Pune if he keeps them quiet here.
Twenty off that over. Pace onto the bat was the elixir Pune were craving.
short slower one outside off, pulled to deep square leg
back of a length outside off, Dhoni knows third man is inside the ring, and he dabs it cutely to his right, and it looked like four all the way before Brathwaite came hurtling in from deep point and tumbled to his left to cut it off at the rope
down the track, and that is a stunning hit. Gets to the pitch of it and uses his wrists to whip it over the long-on boundary and into the sightscreen
quick short ball outside off, rises to shoulder height, and Dhoni top-edges his pull over the keeper
length ball on middle stump - saw Rahane moving around his crease and aimed at the stumps - and it's whipped to long leg
sees Rahane looking to make room, looks to follow him, ends up sliding it far wider of leg stump than he intended, and even the keeper diving full-length can't stop it
short, and Dhoni pulls it fiercely but straight to deep square leg
On comes Mohammed Shami with Pune needing 37 from 18.
shortish and wide, slapped to sweeper cover
googly, cramps Rahane as he rocks back to pull, and can only whip it out to deep midwicket again. He wants the second, but is sent back. Billings' throw is a rocket at the bowler's end, and Rahane was short of his crease, but Mishra fumbles it
quickish skidder on middle stump, Dhoni swipes at it and gets an inside edge onto his pad, dribbles into the backward point region
slower now, on off stump, drags his sweep out to deep backward square leg
googly wide of off, too full to get any elevation, and he hits the slog hard but on the bounce to long-on
