11.45pm And that is that from us. Surprising decision by the adjudicators, for me. Most four-fors in T20 involve a huge element of luck - batsmen hitting long-hops straight to deep midwicket and so forth - but Bravo got his wickets with some really, really top-notch T20 bowling, and deserved the match award. Those two yorkers to Maxwell and Miller potentially shaved 20 runs from the Kings XI total. In any case, I don't make these decisions. Hope you enjoyed the game, and do keep tuning in for all our other coverage. We'll have a match report and other pieces up very soon. Until next time, good night!
Aaron Finch is the Player of the Match: "Nice to start off the tournament well, but I think all credit goes to our bowlers. It was a beautiful wicket, there was some grass on it and it skidded on really well. I shanked a couple, got lucky, but in T20 you need a bit of luck early on. I just didn't perform well enough to last a long time in my previous franchises [when asked how it feels to be playing for his sixth IPL team]."
11.35pm Suresh Raina: "We pulled it [back] really well. Bravo, PK, Faulkner, Jadeja bowled really well. At one stage we thought they would get to 200. We have a couple of international captains in our side, and Hodgy has a lot of experience too, and that really made a difference."
Don: "Watching the few games that have been played so far, the two new teams, Pune and Gujarat, seems to have better and more balanced teams than most of the other established teams. Especially Pune, I wouldn't be surprised if they make the semis or even go all way to the title."
11.27pm Kings XI Punjab rely heavily on their top-heavy batting line-up to put up massive totals. They seemed to be headed for one when M Vijay and Manan Vohra were batting, but that familiar pair of Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja - playing for a new team - stymied them with crucial wickets in the middle overs, and they only made 161 after threatening to get to 200 at one point. David Miller reckons they were "15-20 runs short". Kings XI's bowling - their weak link for a long time - barely threatened Gujarat Lions, with Aaron Finch and Dinesh Karthik ensuring the smoothest of chases.
