flicked for four, he's finished it off in style! That races away to the boundary and Kohli managed a big smile in between his straight-face expressions
Supergiants vs RCB, 35th match at Bengaluru, May 07 2016 - Match Result
RCB won by 7 wickets (with 3 balls remaining)
Virat Kohli: I was pretty determined tonight, last time in Hyderabad we had to chase down 192 and we were pumped up. Today I was motivated to go that extra mile and we needed to win six out of seven to qualify. I'm just happy we could pull that one off. It's never easy in a chase when you need to find boundaries at the right time. Brilliant contributions from KL and Watson in the middle overs too. I always check my heart rate (laughs), if it's fine then I can take better decisions. It's all about keeping your nerves and enthusiasm in check. I try to focus on myself and what I need to do and I convince myself completely before going for it. When you are chasing 12-13 per over and losing wickets, you can't bog down. You'd rather pick an area and get your boundaries there. It's about understanding the situation and doing what suits best at that time. Even today I was not keen on celebrating too much after the hundred, the victory matters more for the team.
Vedang: "Where's the Dhoni interview? Want too see his excuse for under bowling Ashwin" He wasn't there at the presentation.
Vedhas: "So RPS are out?" Nope, not yet
As if I had not typed already during the match, Kohli spoke so much during the presentation. Phew! Jokes apart, that man deserves all of that...the accolades, the awards, the praises. Quick turnaround now and it's time for Kings XI v Daredevils now. Vishal Dikshit signing out for now.
Harshavardhan : "This was bound to happen when you don't utilize your wicket taking bowler "
Duckworth-Lewis: "Thanks for providing me this number 49587498735. Once I find some correlation among different digits, I will get back to you at the same platform." It's an honour.
Rahul Varma: "Wowww! Unbelievable knock again by Kohli. You beauty another ton. Though I support Pune but love the way you bat. Josh machine!!!"
7.40pm That was another special from Kohli in 2016, probably the 49587498735th one. Can anyone keep count? Things didn't start the way he liked when catches were being dropped, misfields were annoying him and Pune made 191. Then Kohli started hitting his usual flurry of boundaries, put on 94 with KL Rahul, before a Watson special - 36 off 13 - including five fours off a Perera over. Kohli, staying right there till the end meant Supergiants needed something special, especially on this pitch, to stop him and if you give R Ashwin only one over, you hurt your chances further.
Manishk: "Keep count of kohli's chases?.. This is probably why Ramanujan invented infinity.."
vinod: "With all due respect -Can Dhoni justify how better are Perera/Rajat Bhatia & Rp singh then Ashwin"
Ravinder Phogat: "@vinod - why respect bro? "
Mukesh: "Kholi completed 6000 runs!!!"
Mohit: "Is this poor bowling or poor captaincy for RPS?"
Just one more, the field comes in
reaches out a long way to off to steer it past short third man but gets an inside edge past short fine for two
Lakshmikanth: "And someone said "Kohli Should NOT open" ??? Really???" Wasn't me, I only published the comment
low full toss outside off, Head gives Kohli strike by working that down to long-on
36 from the last two overs. It's down to 4 from 6. Dinda will bowl the last few balls with a spread-out field. The crowd is going berserk
and gets there with another six! Straight and full, Kohli makes some room and tonks it straight down the ground. Kohli punches the air, Head comes and hugs him, it's over now!
Four away from his second 100 of the season
don't bowl to him there! But where do you bowl tom him? On the pads, full delivery and Kohli flicked that so high and clean that RP didn't even bother looking where it went
good ball again, this one swung in towards the stumps, Head swung again and got an inside edge onto his pad for one
that one kept a tad low outside off, was on short of length and Head swung and missed
slap-pulls the shorter ball down to long on for one
really good ball, almost in the block hole, Kohli flicks and he wants two. He's running like a monster, like Djokovic, and makes it thanks to an inaccurate throw too
that's a high full toss, no ball for sure, and Head pulls it to midwicket. He's caught but RCB get three two runs, a free hit and Kohli on strike
RP Singh, not Ashwin. Head on strike
shuffles a bit towards off and drives the full delivery on the stumps to leg for one
Hits is right pad hard just as he reaches the crease. Kohli knows it isn't done yet
makes room and steps out, slams it hard but straight down to long-off
swings hard as the ball turns away, gets a top-edge and it lands just beyond backward point and short third man and then runs away for four too!
pitches it up, Kohli tries to put it away to leg and gets an edge to the off side
28 from 16. Dhoni having a chat with Zampa
one more, straight down the ground! This was flatter and a bit shorter, not much, Kohli just stood tall and tanked that straight over the bowler's lead. Clean six!
he pitches it up outside leg, not the right line and Kohli goes down on a knee for a slog sweep. Rahane waits at deep midwicket, jumps for the catch but hurts himself while landing beyond the boundary. He's off the field now
Zampa's last
Anupam: "Dhoni has really made a mockery of India's premiere spinner this IPL!!"
Seven from the over. RRR is over 13
steps out of the crease, makes it a low full toss to flick it to deep midwicket for one and keeps strike
succeeds this time as the ball angles in from round the wicket, worked to long on for one
beats Head with the turn as he looks to whip the ball to leg
Ashwin and Dhoni have two-second chat. There's a slip for Head
pretty full now outside off, big swing to sweeper cover for one
