it clears cover, and they complete the run. Delhi celebrate. Yes yes, it's another cutter outside off. Roy swings again, like he has been doing and the ball lobs off the outside half, but because every one is in, the ball clears the infield. And Delhi Daredevils complete a thrilling seven-wicket win against Mumbai.
MI vs Daredevils, 9th match at Mumbai, Apr 14 2018 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Daredevils won by 7 wickets (with 0 balls remaining)
7.39pm The defending champions have lost three games in a row. There's a smile, or something close to that, on Gautam Gambhir's face. That's because the Daredevils have their first win of the season. It was a nail-biter, an absolutely terrific game of cricket. Daredevils started well, then Mumbai fought back, then the Daredevils eventually prevailed, led primarily by Jason Roy's match-winning 91 off 53.
There were some drop catches, there were some stunning catches, there was a lot, but in the end, it's another high-scoring thriller.
At the Commonwealth Games today, even the crowd joined in celebrating the gold won by a 35-year-old, mother of three. Looking ahead to the Tokyo Olympics, Mary Kom later said she would compete if she is "super fit till 2020".
Jason Roy is the Man of the Match: "Was a good knock, but we came together as a team and showed what we're capable of. Brought it back nicely wit the bowlers, took it right to the last game unfortunately. It's a great place to bat, most stadiums around India are good places to bat.
Gautam Gambhir: "Boult, Shami, tremendous effort, we thought they were going to get 230, we restricted them to 190. We thought they were 20-30 runs short. That itself was a positive. He's(Roy) a class player. We're a dangerous side if we keep going like that."
Rohit Sharma: "Disappointed not to finish one of those three games. It was a slower pitch, we could have used the slower ball. Credit to Jason, a chanceless innings. Games like this happen. Very good start, couldn't capitalise in the last five overs. We are not consistent in terms of how we want to take the innings through, not able to finish off games. We'll learn from this and come back. There is room for improvement with our fielding."
1 off 1. No bat on ball for the last three balls. Mumbai have found their voice again. Kishan has taken his right glove off again, like day before. Another cutter?
125 kph, shortish delivery outside off, Roy misses another dab and it's another dot. Mumbai want to review. No bat. It's a dot.
Now 1 off 2
a slower cutter again, outside off, the ball cuts nicely off the pitch and Roy misses a swing.
1 off 3.
a slower ball outside off, that's the length that will cut off the pitch. Roy makes no contact.
1 off 4.
and that's the game! Gambhir is pumped. Mumbai are despondent. What an inning sfrom Roy, it's the same shot that Jadhav played to get six in game 1. A full delivery on middle and leg, flicked away over fine leg for six. Such power in those wrists.
7 off 7
smashed for four! Full and wide from Mustafizur, it's not a bad option but it's slow because he's looking for the cutter. With that length, it won't cut. Drilled over cover for four.
Third man, backward point, cover and square leg are in. Rest are out.
Okay, okay! Settle down. 39 overs of slogging, it comes down to six balls. 11 off 6. Mustafizur has the ball. Roy has had a terrific Daredevils debut, but such is the humidity of Mumbai that he will be fatigued.
Rohit, Mustafizur, Pollard and the Pandya brothers have a long chat near the bowler's end
another wide yorker, another offcutter! Inside the tramline. Sensational bowling. Iyer is beaten again as he tries to dab the ball. That is predictable, but still so hard to get bat on that.
11 off 7.
DOT BALL! 122 kph, another cutter, it's just inside the tramline too. Iyer misses a dab.
a full wide delivery outside off, driven to long-off for one. Could not get under the length of that.
12 off 9
a slower ball outside off, Roy is completely deceived, the ball lobs over the bowler, a chip for a couple. Did not pick that cutter.
a low full toss on middle, hoicked away to deep midwicket, on the bounce. Not a bad result for Mumbai.
15 off 11. Bumrah needs a wicket. Mumbai need a wicket. Delhi do not.
a slower ball outside off, guided to deep point for one. Just one. Roy wants two.
Right then, Bumrah. 16 off 12.
it's too predictable, the length that is. Short around middle and leg, pulled away into the gap between square leg and midwicket. The ball lands just inside the boundary, four.
20 off 13. A big ball.
Saurabh: "What is Iyer doing? All they need is a sensible innings and not go hard at every ball and miss them! Roy is hitting them comfortably.."
dot ball! Another cutter outside off, another swat, another swing and miss.
20 off 14. A wicket changes things
full and wide, carved over backward point. By the time deep point gets across to his left, two easy runs.
a predictable cutter, around off. Iyer misses a swat, dot
and they concede the leg bye eventually! A full delivery down leg, Roy looks for the paddle scoop. The ball hits the pad to fine leg. Roy sends Iyer back, the throw is to the non-striker's end. Mustafizur doesn't bother colecting the throw and so concedes an extra
a cutter on middle, pushed to cover for one. Roy and Mustafizur collide. But the run is easily done.
24 off 18. By T20 standards, that's a stroll. At the Wankhede, it's even easier. Mustafizur has two overs left.
a low full toss outside off, looking for the reverse paddle scoop but he hits the ball back into hos body.
that should be the match! A short delivery outside off, Iyer goes back and goes slashing. Straight to Mustafizur at a good height too, at short third man. The ball bursts out, a big, big drop
