12.37am And Rohit Sharma now walks to the stage to collect the trophy. The players are already ready - Rohit gives the trophy to young Ishan Kishan to lift. The fireworks go off behind them, and the party begins for the boys in blue.

The celebrations will continue till the wee hours of the morning, so it's time for us at ESPNcricinfo to bid goodbye as well. Thank you for your company over the past seven weeks. Hope you enjoyed our coverage. We'll see you super soon for more cricket. Till then, take care and stay safe, cricket fans! Goodnight.

12.08am Finally, we are ready for the presentation.

Rohit Sharma, the winning captain is a happy man as he walks up to collect the winners' cheque of INR 20 crore. He says: "We played some good cricket. Good to see we qualified in the top two. At the start of the tournament, we wanted to split the tournament into two halves. But credit to the entire squad, not just the XI. Even the support staff as well. Our bowling in this tournament was excellent. At different stages, our bowlers put their hands up and brought us back in the game. Every bowler who got an opportunity put their hand up, whatever condition we played in. We backed our ability and our skills, and that's probably why we got rewards. About Malinga, that's what champions do. I had confidence in him despite a poor third over. He also had confidence he could do it. I thought we could use Hardik for the 20th, but wanted to back someone who has done it for us. Malinga has done it many times in the past, so not a very difficult decision. As a captain, I am learning every game and every tournament. But need to give credit to the team. Firmly believe captain is representative of this team. Players make the captain look good."

Mahela Jayawardene, the Mumbai coach collects the winners' award from the BCCI treasurer.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the losing captain walks up to collect the runners-up cheque of INR 12.50 crore. He says: "As a team we had a good season. But we need to go back and reflect. Wasn't one of those years where we played very good cricket. Middle order never clicked, but somehow we managed. Today was one game we should've done slightly better. It was quite a funny game, we were passing the trophy to each other. Both committed mistakes, and eventually the winning team was the one that committed one mistake less. Our bowlers did really well. It was not a 150 wicket, but the bowlers kept us in the hunt. They kept getting wickets when it was really needed. Batting, someone kept chipping in and we kept winning. To be consistent next year, we will have to really think hard. It's too early to say right now (about next year's plans). Up next is the World Cup. That's the first priority. After that, we will chat about CSK. Nothing against the bowlers, but the batsmen could've done better. Hopefully yes, we'll see you next year."

Stephen Fleming, the CSK coach collects the award for the runners-up.

The umpires Nigel Llong, Nitin Menon, Ian Gould, Nandan and match referee Javagal Srinath collect mementos.

Andre Russell wins the award for the season's Most Valuable Player.

Imran Tahir collects the Purple Cap with 26 wickets. Pips Kagiso Rabada by a solitary scalp. The 40-year-old trods up to collect the catch. Reminds us that age is just a number. "I'm grateful to Chennai for giving me an opportunity at this age. Want to thank management, coaches, captain and players. It's sad we didn't win but Mumbai played well and deserved the victory. I've been working hard to maintain an economy. Not easy bowling against the local Indian and international players. But really just pleased with my self. Hard work is all I've been doing. I would love to carry on as long I can."

David Warner wins the Orange Cap for scoring 692 runs at an average of 69. Laxman collects on his behalf. One century and eight fifties this season for Warner. "An honour to win the Orange Cap," Warner says via a video message. "When we play, we don't think of these awards. But must say congratulations to the curator for a good surface. Always a privilege to play in Hyderabad. Very grateful to be part of the IPL. Thank you very much."

Zain Munawari: "Yayyy!!! Look how much David Warner loves his team.... Proud to be a Hyderabadi and proud to have Warner in our team...."

Russell wins the award for best strike-rate. "Happy to win the striker award," says Russell via a recorded message. "I think a lot of guys were up for the award this season, but I'm fortunate to win it. Hopefully next year we will go all the way and I can collect the key in the final."

Kieron Pollard gets the award for the season's best catch. Took a screamer at deep point off Suresh Raina in the league stage.

Sunrisers Hyderabad win the award for Fair Play. Mentor VVS Laxman collects the award on behalf of his team.

Shubman Gill is the Emerging Player of IPL 2019. A strike-rate of 124.30 for the 19-year-old, including three fifties from the top of the order.

Aditya Agrawal: "I think Watson was the Thanos today. He finished half the living runs with his snap. And Mumbai Avengers stole it with the team work at the end."

Punjab Cricket Association and Hyderabad Cricket Association win the award for best ground and pitch at IPL 2019. They will share INR 25 lac.

Mustafa Moudi: "Ashwin's Mankading, Dhoni's No-Ball Protest, Virat's No-Ball Anger, DK's Timeout Anger, Smith's Sudden Captaincy Appointment, Iyer's Great Gesture of Letting go of Hooda's Run-Out and Now Rohit Lifting the Trophy.... All Skippers has given us great moments this season !!"

Jasprit Bumrah (2-14) is the Man of the Match. "Very happy," Bumrah says. "We know finals can be close, so wanted to stay calm. Winning fourth title for Mumbai makes me very happy. Today I was surprisingly very calm. Wasn't panicking, just focusing on the next ball. Doesn't help taking extra pressure, instead I back my skills."

Jalil: "I think this is the signal for handing the indian captian role to ROHIT which will ease workload from VIRAT. Let him do what he does the best i.e. scoring quick runs, break records, hits centuries inspires the whole world. Rohit can be great captain and it will be win win situation for all."

Aravindts: "Don't forget Saini and Prasidh who consistently hit 146k this season #thebrightfuture"

Vishal: "Khaleel Ahmed's performance stole the show this IPL...Would have been the purple cap holder had he played all matches..."

Shashank dixit: "Thank God.. The world cup will follow this tournament shortly.. There is nothing other than cricket that excites me in life.. "

12midnight It's a brand new day, but the presentation is still a few minutes away. Visuals show Dhoni and Fleming in conversation, perhaps discussing where their chase went wrong.

Pradeep: "Smiles in whole ground when Turner got off mark in IPL, my moment of IPL."

Mehboob Khan Ma: "It's Dhoni's hilarious statement on Imran Tahir's celebrations " "We have made it very clear to him that me and [Shane] Watson are never coming to him because more often that not, when he gets a wicket, he runs to the other side. With me and Watson, it's quite difficult since we are not 100 percent fit. So, we just say very well done and go back to our positions. The good thing is he finishes the lap quickly and comes back to bowl,""

Ram: "Pandyas helicopter this IPL is memorable!!"

Jeph: "Remember..RR is the only team undefeated by MI this IPL season..beat them twice. "

11.53pm Stick around for more reactions, including what MS Dhoni says. Till then, why don't you tell us what your favourite moment of IPL 2019 was?

Pavan: "Yuvi hitting 3 sixes to chahal " -- ah! Rolled back the years

Deependra: "Rabada's super over against kkr was unforgettable one"

Zain Munawari: "Being a Hyderabadi, my favourite moment of IPL 2019 was, WARNER'S CENTURY.... Because, the greatest comeback is when people rise from the depths of despair to conquer it all once again."

Navjot S Bhatia: "A big thanks to the entire Cricinfo team .. For me IPL would not have been as exciting without you guys... Congrats and keep up the great work..!!" -- cheers, mate. Hope you guys had as much fun as we had in bringing it to you

Dipanjan Show: "Thank You, IPL! For giving such a great time watching this! I had some great time, moments of joy, moments of heartbreaks. Good Bye, IPL!"

Nita Ambani, team owner: "Wasn't watching the last over, definitely not the last ball (laughs). Congratulations to our captain for leading Mumbai Indians beautifully."

Hassan: "My favorite moment of this IPL was when rcb broke their seven match losing streak against CSK of the last ball"

Ragz: "My moment.. Pollard's innings against KXIP and that spell by Alzarri Joseph! Some amazing moments all around.... Though! Kudos!"

Pradeep Yadav: "My favourite moment this IPL was definitely the 19 year old Riyan Parags ice cool chase. Definitely a player to watch out for, how blessed we are as a cricketing nation. " -- Nineteen? The dude's 17! Bright future.

Akash Ambani, team owner: "Malinga is the highest wicket-taker in IPL, and this is why he's so good. I think Mumbai's environment helps us tick. We back a player to the T and we treat everyone like a family. The squad and support staff is the reason why we are champions."

Bhanu Prakash R: "Rohit for Team India captain"

Saurabh Mantri: "Both CSK and MI invested in the players which no one wants to have but both players paid off in the final, CSK-> Watson and MI -> Malinga"

Mahela Jayawardene, the Mumbai coach: "Thought we had the game when MS got out, but then Watto started hitting. Some great decisions by Rohit, going back to experienced bowlers at the death. This is why we wanted to defend. Wanted to take a punt with Pollard while batting since he is good against CSK. Asked him to get us out off the mess, and he did so. Big players come to the party in big games. Young Rahul Chahar came off age too. Held his nerve on a wicket where there wasn't much."

Niraj Kheria: "My favorite IPL 2019 moment was Jadeja six off stokes. It was the best moment of the entire IPL history to me. "

Sachin Tendulkar: "The key moment was Dhoni's run-out. But also in patches when Bumrah bowled those critical to even out Malinga's one poor over was also crucial. And the last over, thought Malinga finished the game out beautifully. And as for the final, we knew we defended 129 in the final two years ago, so we were confident. I think we have a terrific team - with experience and youth. As Mahela said, Rahul Chahar stands out the way he's bowled this season. Just fabulous. And don't forget Hardik. We were in the corner in many games this season, and Hardik bailed us out many times.

McClenaghan: "Proud of everyone who played. Even those who didn't. Credit to Bond and Mahela. Outstanding."

Shameel Raja: "Runouts changed the fate of Csk in IPL finals. It shows the importance of fitness in any game."

Vishal Narine: "Special mention to you guys at ESPNcricinfo for the commentaries. So many persons follow your commentaries even though we watch live on TV. Greetings from Guyana" -- Cheers, Vish

Shane Bond, bowling coach: "Today was a culmination of a lot of hard work. We knew 150 was below par but knew we had the bowlers. Mali was great in the clutch moments. We have players like Behrendorff and Alzarri who are not here right now, but they have all contributed."

JP: "My favorite IPL moment was the mankading wicket! #SpiritOfTheGame "

Mahit: "Being a KKR fan, my favourite moment was Russell smacking bowlers all over the park."

Suryakumar: "Perfect final. Reason behind success is our processes and routines. We share our ideas, and that helps each player know their strengths and weaknesses."

Bills : "And Rohitman Sharma maintains his 100% record of winning in finals as a captain! "

Kishan: "We are known to come back, so we came back well despite a few poor overs. Every half-chance we created, those were crucial too. Bumrah is excellent. When he said he had two more overs to bowl, I was pretty sure he would concede less in the back end."

Lewis: "Can someone tell me if that was missing leg or not? " -- the final ball? No, hitting leg stump.

Krunal: "Unbelievable game. From childhood, we wanted to play good cricket together. Even when we weren't in the IPL, we wanted to play for Mumbai Indians. And a word on Hardik, he's been unbelievable. I don't need to look elsewhere for inspiration, I have Hardik."

Hardik: "Lot of people were saying that we had won three times so they would win the fourth. But I told Krunal, no, it's going to be 4-0. Lost a few kgs today (laughs), such a tight game. I used to have Mumbai Indians posters in my room growing up, and to win with them: amazing. Played well this season, but now time to move on. Want to lift that World Cup trophy as well.

Pollard: "These sort of games, these are the games you want to perform. People remember these games. Playing in so many finals, I knew getting runs adds pressure for the team batting second. I missed a few shots, but the way Bumrah and Malinga bowled in the last two overs - they finished it off for us. Malinga, a legend. Even in 2017, we didn't put too many runs on the board. The team that panics less does better. It was a team performance."

Nikhil: "Congrats MI from a CSK fan, that was well deserved, just feeling saf for Mahi, gave it all throughout the tournament and got run out in the final, but surely will be back with his charm in the world cup. Also Rohit the captain is brilliant"

Bumrah: "The ball was reversing when de Kock missed the ball, but we wanted to stay calm since similar things happened against Pune in 2017 as well. We always believed in our team this season. We have confidence in each and every individual. On their given day, any of our players can be matchwinners."

Rishabh: "For a Delhi supporter in me, the whole IPL was memorable. A refurbished unit that has done enough to shed the weight of the past, yet faltering at crunch moments to show they still have some 'Daredevilry' in them!"

Rajesh Sanghvi: "My unforgettable IPL moment Kuldeep Yadav on his haunches and Crying after being hit out of the tournament." -- That moment broke my heart, mate

Malinga: Last ball, I thought that if they get one run, it would be a Super Over, but I wanted us to win. So I went for my wicket ball."

11.35pm The fireworks are now underway! Lights up the Sunday sky at Hyderabad. Jasprit Bumrah and Harbhajan Singh share a hug. So do the Malinga and Dhoni. What's great to see is that both teams have a smile on their faces. Class really is permanent folks. Just two overs ago, most cricket fans had thought that Lasith Malinga had lost his mojo, but when it mattered, he delivered. The celebrations continue.

Amar: "Being a csk fan CSK deserves this defeat. Congrats Mumbai Indians. Csk tasted their own medicine what they have SRH last IPL season "

11.33pm The Mumbai Indians players are ecstatic. Kieron Pollard picks Malinga up on his shoulder. Nita Ambani is in tears. MS Dhoni is a picture of calm though. Leads his team for the handshake, but spare a thought for Shane Watson. He very nearly carried CSK through.

Sid: "Sloppiest IPL final I can remember."

PARAG: "Bhajji should have been in just for his experience. I hope sending Shardul doesn't backfire for CSK"

Asad: "Did someone before mention Malinga has lost his magic? "

Shankar: "I like the way Mumbai team was all smiles even after the deCock misfield. "

Malinga to Thakur, OUT

Mumbai Indians win IPL 2019! Slower ball, yorker on middle, and the leg-side swipe has been missed by the batsman. Malinga appeals, and umpire Menon raises his finger. Was that going down leg side? We'll never know since Raina had used his review. Lasith Malinga has redeemed himself after that 20-run over.

Shardul Thakur lbw b Malinga 2 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100

What a final this is. CSK need two to win. Mumbai need a dot to win. We need a single for a super over. Quinton de Kock has taken his gloves off. People are praying in the stands. Indians, foreigners, you name it. Rohit has another conversation with Malinga. Guys, we've now gone beyond four hours too, but do we mind? What a game of cricket. Nervous faces everywhere. Deep midwicket and long on in place.
