The list of Irani Trophy winners is here
Man of the match is Wriddhiman Saha: 'When I got out in the first innings, I decided I will be positive against fuller deliveries. Pujara played well in both the innings and didn't look like he would get out. He didn't bog me down by asking me to calm down. He asked me go for the shots'
Pathiv Patel: 'It was a good season. We played well. Credit should go to Wriddhi and Pujara for the way they batted after being 63/4. We had an inexperienced attack and don't think we could've done anything differently. We have had a great season and are looking forward for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.'
Pujara: 'It was a very good team effort, especially getting them below 400. The way Saha approached the innings[in the chase] made the diffenrence. The pace bowlers, all of them, made the difference too. We wanted to get a good start, but didn't. I wanted to hang on after Saha told me that he wanted to go after the bowlers. Looking forward to the tests against Bangladesh and Australia. It was a good pitch. There was something for the pace bowlers and batsmen. Congratulations to the Gujarat team on winning the Ranji Trophy'
It's the 15th time in the last 19 times that Rest of India have won the Irani trophy. Saha's double century and the way he played after Rest of India found themselves in a spot of bother chasing 379 would give him a lot of confidence. He goes forward in the race for the keeper's position in the national team.
