Full toss just outside off beats the aimed slap over cover. White made room, swung and missed. Keeper can't gather it. Stopped at long leg
Bangladesh vs Ireland, 2nd T20I at Chattogram, Mar 29 2023, Ireland tour of Bangladesh
That was a clinic from Bangladesh. For Ireland, there wasn't much to ride home about. But as a candid Paul Stirling said at the end of the game, they will look to bounce back on Friday. Join us then to find out if they can or if the hosts can complete a clean sweep. For now, it's goodbye from me Ekanth, my co-commentator, Shamya Dasgupta, and our scorer, Ranjith P.
Afik: "Cricinfo's MVP TI scores show Ben White outscoring Shakib Al Hasan. How does that work?" Not sure, what's definite is that it's counter-intuitive.
Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh Captain and POTM: (On being highest T20I wicket taker) It feels good obviously. It was important to show up today and that's what we did. We've discussed our aggressive approach and need to do it to be an aggressive, competitive side. Luckily it's coming off. When I batted and Tector was bowling, ball spun and gripped. I thought there was something on the wicket and thought of playing spinners. If we go to Australia or England and they are 2-0 down, they will look to go 3-0. We will not be complacent, maybe try new guys but they will be just as hungry to score runs or get wickets.
Paul Stirling, Ireland Captain: That was tricky no doubt. Few of the same errors from the last 2 weeks. We'll have a think tomorrow and hopefully do better on Friday. (On being asked if Tector's approach could have been tempered) You have to take it every game as it comes, wouldn't have been great had we been batting for ourselves. Think it's been a balance of them being a strong team. Didn't think it was gonna be as one-sided as it has been. We don't feel there are any dead rubbers. So look forward to playing on Friday.
Rafail Ahamed S: "I'm intrigued to watch Bangladesh play against big teams in aways conditions. Bowling, batting and fielding! All the departments looks strong enough to improve their away records. "
Steven Cooper: "Ireland have at least managed to hit more 6's than Bangladesh! Fully old game..."
Zabed: ""Premium bangladesh! Really matured play by tigers. Everyone showing their class.""
6:28pm: Comfy, cozy, dominant win seals the series for Bangladesh on Shakib's day. Their rebranding is doing wonders and Ireland's tour continues to slump. Rain hit Chattogram after the toss and the game was delayed for a while, but a 17-over game was possible. Litton and Talukdar were brilliant with the bat before Shakib and Hridoy continued the dominance. With the ball, Shakib was on fire, Taskin was brilliant. Ireland's batters went all-out attack but the tactic fell flat on the face. In the end, a massive 77-run win.
Full ball just down leg, looked like an edge off the flick. Ball ends up at deep third
Is that dropped by Litton? Yorker at the stumps, White made room and tried to drive towards cover last second. Went off the edge and Litton dove and got glove to it. But the ball parried to deep third
Yorker follows the batter just down leg, Hume does well to clip it to mid-on. Pace: 139kph
Yorker on leg, Hume clears the coast and tries to slap it through cover. Thin outside saves him as the ball deflects just outside off and goes to the keeper on the bounce
Full toss just down leg, Hume stays leg side and defends back to the bowler
Final over coming up in this rain-hit game
Hume Jumps as he slaps the slower bouncer outside off to deep point
Comes in with the angle and keeps a bit low to beat the bat. Was around a length just outside off, Hume was trying to lower himself and plop it through cover but missed.
Full toss on fourth stump. It's a bit low and is pushed back to the bowler
Full on middle and leg, clipped to midwicket
Length around off, steered to short fine
Full toss on off, driven to deep cover
Yorker knocks over the stumps, Taskin roars in celebration Campher cleared the front leg and had all his stumps exposed. Taskin went full and straight, may have swung in a bit to hit middle to send the bails flying.
Reverse ramped over the keeper to bring up fifty. That might be the shot of the day. Sprung into a step while remaining in the crease. Got a low full toss. It was like a reverse sweep in fast-forward motion.
Goes across and tries the ramp again and Taskin goes for the slower ball. It's full, goes with the angle and beats bat as he tried to sweep it hard and fine.
Slow on an in-between length outside off. Tries to cut it square. Misses
Goes across and ramps very fine, clears the fence! Was a length ball outside off, he was looking for the ramp and judged it was a back-of-length ball, went upright and went low to up at good speed.
Yorker is slow at 102kph on leg. Campher jams it into the pitch, goes towards midwicket. Man runs in from the team and the batters are able to scamper for two
Swiped away over midwicket, brings up Ireland's hundred.
Down the track, gets to the pitch of the full ball on leg. Driven to long-on.
