NW Warriors vs Knights, 7th Match at Bready, INTER PRO, May 21 2021 - Ball by Ball Commentary

1:50pm Sadly we have just heard from the Umpires that the ground isn't drying, with more rain likely there isn't any chance of play today. It's been abandoned. What a shame. 2 points each means that the Warriors move back to the top of the table. Lets hope that we have better luck tomorrow as the Reds take on the Lightning in Pembroke. Thanks again for following along today, this is Justin Smyth saying goodbye from a wet Bready

12:15pm The 12pm inspection has come and gone. Probably didn't help that it started raining as the Umpires were walking out to the middle! Early lunch is going to be taken at 1pm, another inspection at 1:30pm. It's really looking a bit grim here.

11:15am We have just heard back from the Umpires, it's really not drying too well out there. There is going to be another inspection at 12pm, you would think that if we are going to get any play it's going to be after lunch. Just like yesterday, to fit a 20 over a side in, we need to get going before 4pm, just need a bit of sun, please....

11:00am The Umpires are going to be heading out soon to have a look to how the ground is drying. There is a bit of concern around the bowlers run ups and backward point is a little "soft". Although it has just been announced that Boyd Rankin is going to be retiring from representative cricket after this match today, hopefully the ground will dry out enough to let him play his final game on his home ground.

10:00am Good Morning and welcome to ESPNCricinfo's coverage of the IP50 game between the North West Warriors and the Northern Knights, today we are up in Bready so let's hope that the weather today is better than yesterday's no result down at Pembroke!

It was only three days ago that these two teams took the pitch at Stormont. The Warriors won by 62 runs off the back of a strong batting performance. William McClintock won the player of the match award for his excellent 72* off only 46 balls, the Knights could only watch on as the ball was deposited to all parts of the Stormont ground. Unsurprising they have named the same squad for today's game.

Knights will be disappointed that after their win against the Lightning, that they fell away so sharply against the Warriors. When chasing nearly 300, you need more than one-batter to score heavily. Jeremy Lawlor top scored with 95, beating his highest List A score for the second time in 3 days, although no-one else scored higher than 22. You're not going to win batting like that! The Knights will have been boosted as McCarter returns to the squad today, replaces Foster.

After the Lightning picked up 2 points for the no result yesterday, they have moved back to the top of the table. A win for the Warriors today would move them at least two points clear, maybe three if they pick another bonus point. A Knights win would certainly make things tight at the top. Only time will tell.

I'm hoping that the weather will play ball today, although there was lots of rain yesterday, more rain this morning and the Umpires are already out inspecting.
