Hammers the ball towards wide long-on, one bounce and it clear the boundary. The Umpire originally signals a four, then changes his mind. It's a six!
Knights vs Reds, 10th Match at Belfast, INTER-PRO T20, May 28 2024 - Ball by Ball Commentary
With that the rain that has been threatening for a while has arrived. Such a shame for the Knights as they were charging. Let's hope that this strong breeze blows this rain away.
4.50pm The groundstaff have raced out with the covers, and are trying to cover as much ground as possible. The rain has started to get a little lighter, we have seen too much rain already this year! I'll keep you updated if anything changes.
Match State: Delay - Rain
Match State: Delay - Wet Outfield
5.10pm Good news everyone, the rain has stopped. The blotter is out in the middle removing the water off the top of the covers. There is a lot of water on the covers, so it could take a little while to get moped up here.
5.27pm Umpires have been out in the middle for an inspection and are going to talk to the two Captains. Lots of looking at watches. Hopefully that’s good news.
Not 100% sure that the Knights are going to be able to finish their overs, as Humphreys has re-emerged without his bat and pads. Egan's not going to get a chance for that century...
5.35pm I've just been told that we are going to have another Inspection at 5.50pm. The Knights Innings is definitely over. If play starts again at 6.15pm, the Reds will have 13 overs to chase down the DLS target.
5.55pm The news from the 5.50pm inspection is that we are going to have another inspection at 6.20pm
We are going to be running it close to the cut off time. Can we get a five over bash in?
Match State: Delay - Inspection at 6.20pm
6.20pm The Umpires have been out for the latest inspection, and it’s bad news I’m afraid. The ground just isn’t drying and there is no chance of the game getting going again before the cut off time. What a shame!
Both teams pick up 2 points, not the result that either team will be happy with. I’m sure that the Lightning will be though as they sit at home watching along.
Let’s hope that the weather is better tomorrow as we are back at Stormont again for the IP50 match between the two teams. Hope that you'll join me then
This is Justin saying goodbye from Stormont
full ball, looks to hoick the ball into the legside, but can't get any bat on the ball
clips the ball through mid-wicket
back of a length ball, swings down the legside for the third wide in the over
reaches around in front of the pads and works the ball through square leg
Manley is looking to bowl slow and the ball goes down the legside again
down the legside
good thinking from the Knights batters! The ball deflects off the pad to short fine leg, it's a direct hit at the stumps at the keepers end, no fielders are near enough to get the ball and they pick up another run
Manley on from the other end, it's beginning to look very dark out there
punches the ball towards extra cover abd sets off for the run. Puts pressure on the fielder and he can't pick the ball up cleanly so they get through
full ball, gets the bat down low and blocks the ball through point once again. The fielder is being kept busy there in this over
Egan gets up on his toes and works the ball towards point to pick up another run
little inside edge, hits the front pad and the ball runs to point
Mayes hits the ball a mile in the air, the fielder runs in quickly from the long-on boundary. Slides to the ground as he catches the ball. Takes three attempts before the ball settles in his hand.
McCarthy is back, starts off with a full ball. Defended to mid-off
yet another boundary for Egan! The ball is cut past backward point and the fielder in the deep can't stop it. 20 runs for Egan in that over. Impressive hitting
late cuts the ball past backward point, the fielders give chase but can't stop the ball getting to the rope
blocks the ball towards point
hits the ball down the ground, the ball spins and wrong-foots the fielder on the boundary to go to the rope. 100 up for the Knights
hit down to long-on, turns quickly for the second
Reaches out of the crease and seems to fetch the ball from outside off-stump, the ball flies off the bat and clears the long-on boundary to thud into the sightscreen
