length ball, outside off, driven on the up through long-off, that'll do for Birmingham, who win by four runs and claim their maiden T20 title
Warwickshire vs Lancashire, Final at Birmingham, Aug 23 2014 - Ball by Ball Commentary
9.40pm: Holy moly, what a stonking end to a doozy of a final! In front of a home crowd, Warwickshire have toasted their rebrand as Birmingham Bears by winning the T20 tournament for the first time. Woakes held his nerve at the end, facing the ghost of Freddie Flintoff past, who couldn't quite drag Lancashire over the line despite a couple of moments of magic. There was drama throughout, thankfully the rain stayed away for the final. Birmingham, having sneaked through the group stage as the final qualifier of eight, can enjoy themselves now, becoming only the second team to win Finals Day at their own ground. Anyway, it's been an excitement-packed day, so frantic at the end that they are still preparing for the presentation. We'll have a report and reaction on the site soon, thanks for your comments, Alex and I will be back for the start of the ODI series on Monday. Cheerio!
Six to win, Stephen, no pressure... "I am sitting 30 inch away from the 40 inch screen.. go Freddie you champ!!" squeals Sachin (not that one)
fullish wide of the stumps, chopped away through point off the back foot, a single is useless so they come back for the second
Two balls, eight to win, Parry has to do it himself
another perfect yorker from Woakes, Flintoff bunts it down the ground - this time they won't get back for two, Parry is on strike for the penultimate delivery
Nine off three, they need a boundary...
goes right back in the crease, clubs a full ball through midwicket, comfortable second run there
"Burnley Lara to hit the winning runs?" Robert, not satisfied with this as it is, wants one more twist
fullish, scooped down the ground and long-off slips while fielding, they get back for two
Can a man win a game on reputation alone? We're about to find out
goes full, gets the yorker in, slightly wide of off stump and Parry swings and misses, Flintoff comes charging down the pitch regardless, dives headlong to make his ground and take the strike
Woakes to bowl the final over - think they're okay on the rate - Parry on strike, 14 required. Lummy!
low full toss, clubbed over deep midwicket - clears the diving fielder, six more! It's all going wrong/right at the last - and there could yet be a penalty for a slow over rate!
slower ball, in the slot... and crashed for six back down the ground! No foot movement from Flintoff, just waited, swung hard, almost like closed the eyes and let instinct take over
full on off stump, backs away chops one to long-off
pitched up, dug out back past the bowler for one
Stephen Parry in at No. 10, Flintoff on strike
low full toss, clubbed towards long-on... where Bell takes a BRILLIANT CATCH! Right on the boundary, judged it superbly, leaped up on to his tippy-toes and pouched it like a dream. Third wicket for Hannon-Dalby, Warks closing in
pitched up, on off stump, edgy prod down the ground from Flintoff
Two overs to go... and Hannon-Dalby will bowl out
slightly full length, Flintoff shuffles forward, pushes tentatively into the covers for a single to get off the mark
Here comes Flintoff, Warks looking to get on with things, got to get their overs in or face a six-run penalty... Any more drama on the card?
full and straight, Woakes has knocked him over! Superb yorker, under Brown's flailing bat, into the base of off stump
ooh, that's tasty, shuffles back in his crease and turns a yorker into a half-volley, rifles a cover drive to the fence
short ball, slow but Brown clocks it, waits... and poings it over deep midwicket for six! Clean swing and away she blows, half-century up for Brown, he's still fighting
full and straight again, Brown can't get under it, crumped down the ground and they race back for two
pitched up, steps away and drills one down the ground to long-off
Lancashire are still just about in touch. Freddie Flintoff is jigging his knees on the bench, padded up and ready to perform miracle... Chris Woakes back into the attack, three overs to go
full and tailing towards leg stump, deflects behind square off the pad
back of a length, Brown pulls at it, hits high on the bat, loops through mid-on for one more
