slightly short and Latham came hang back, angle the bat for another prod through point

fired in on a straighter line, 82mph/133kph and Young nudges it off his pads to fine leg

Talking of the football...England fans may be looking forward the Three Lions beginning their Euro 2020 campaign against Croatia. But last night, the world of football came to a standstill as Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field during Denmark's opener against Finland. While the horror of those scenes will be impossible to shake off, the reactions that followed - from players and supporters on both sides, the paramedics at the venue and fans from across the world praying for Eriksen's recovery - was a reminder of the fragility of life, and something that made us all feel a little more human

6.6
Anderson to Latham, no run

back of a length outside off, patted down towards point

6.5
Anderson to Latham, no run

dug in at the body, 83mph/134kph and this gets Latham in a bit of a tangle, fended away leg side... no short leg in, otherwise that would have been a chance

"It's coming home, it's coming home..." I think they are chanting about the football, rather than the World Test Championship

6.4
Anderson to Latham, no run

drags his length ball, leaping away and through to the keeper

6.3
4
Anderson to Latham, FOUR runs

timed down the ground to long-on! Booming inswinger from Anderson but Latham merely watches it on to the middle of the bat, caressed to the rope

6.2
Anderson to Latham, no run

touch short, shaping back in as Latham looks to tuck off his pads

6.1
Anderson to Latham, no run

on the stumps, Latham prods this back into the leg side

end of over 61 run

"The world has changed because of covid," muses Stephen. "But Barmy Army still the same, still trying to decide if its a good or bad thing." At least England remain world-beaters at singing atonally while getting drunk

5.6
Broad to Young, no run

tempter, swing and then seam movement to beat the outside edge as Young essays a cover drive

5.5
Broad to Young, no run

length, 85mph/137kph a couple of feet outside off, no stroke

"Where there's a Will there's a way...." chortles Carey

5.4
Broad to Young, no run

fuller-length ball outside off, again Broad brings this back in, left alone

5.3
Broad to Young, no run

oof, vicious inswinger, raps Young a blow on the box! That's what the protective gear is for

5.2
Broad to Young, no run

quite a wide line from Broad, doesn't bother following it

And now Latham ticks over to 4000 runs in Test cricket

5.1
1
Broad to Latham, 1 run

shortish outside off, dabbed down towards point

Here's Tobias: "Really wouldn't want to be Gary Stead right now. The selection dilemmas for New Zealand ahead of the WTC final are enormous. This strength of depth is definitely a good problem to have especially given how well Young, Henry and Patel have preformed in this match. I'd almost back a side that will have Jamieson at No. 7, Wagner at 8, Southee at 9, Patel at 10 and Boult at 11. A real shame for Henry because I'm sure he won't get picked." Think I'd prefer to be Stead than Chris Silverwood, though

4.6
Anderson to Young, no run

whoosh! Young nearly has a poke at this one, quite wide and holding its line... there was a "click" on its way past, but no appeal, bar an optimistic roar from the crowd

4.5
Anderson to Young, no run

angled in straighter, 84mph and this one gets the dead-bat treatment

4.4
Anderson to Young, no run

puts this on a length, holding its line and Young lets it go

Latham ticks over to 4000 runs in Test cricket with that single
