Absolute wild celebrations, roar of triumph from Jason Holder and high-fives all around! West Indies break the voodoo and it's that man again, Holder who has risen to the occasion, Shaheen bowls full into the pads at middle, he shuffles across a touch and hits it with a lot of oomph past fine leg and the ball has enough legs to reach the rope. What an incredible game of cricket, West Indies held their nerve in the crunch moments while Pakistan pacers flinched in the last few overs!
Pakistan vs West Indies, 2nd T20I at Lauderhill, WI vs PAK, Aug 02 2025 - Match Result
Jason Holder, Player of the Match: Told Romario when we were batting that we need four sixes. We are powerful players and knew that we could find the boundary. Just keep wickets in hand but still hit in our strong areas. Credit to Pakistan bowlers. They did really well. extremely proud of our men. Even from the Australia series, we could see plenty of positives. Bowlers supported each other, we got wickets upfront, in middle and towards the end. I love playing for West Indies, still think a lot of work needs to be done. One of my things is to leave WI cricket better than I found it. We've had a fair bit of criticism which is warranted. We haven't done justice to our potential...w can be a lot better, consistency has definitely plagued us. For me, I'll keep putting in my best effort
Shai Hope, West Indies Captain: Been a tough couple of weeks for us...hats off to the bowlers...the bowlers set up the game for us, restricted them to a low total. We always try to get better, guys have put in a lot of hard work. Hopefully today is the turnaround we are looking for. (area of improvement:) I guess look for more singles in middle overs we tend to be a boundary hitting team, we are known for that, but rotation of strike is something we need to look at when the pitch is not conducive because they are going to do the same thing.
Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan Captain: In this game we batted well in powerplay but we couldn't finish the game. (on bowlers) We bowled really well but there is always room to improve. I think we can bowl better at death. 130 was never enough but they fought really well and I am proud of (bowlers). The way spinners bowled in both games, we are ready for Asia Cup, and they will come into play in Dubai.
Phew, that was something special. Holder stepped up to the plate with the ball and made sure his effort didn't go in vain. He fittingly hits the winning shot, and his 16-run cameo gets West Indies over the line, breaking the long losing streak. Hope, Chase, and Motie did just enough to keep them in the hunt. Pakistan spinners had them on a leash and controlled the game completely but the pacers didn't hold their end of the bargain and leaked plenty at the end and West Indies had enough in the tank to eke out a memorable win that will surely lift their spirits and mood
Kannadachi : "T20 has been WI strong hold. When they lost 6 in a row , felt they have to punch above their weight. WI cricket needed that win !"
around the wicket, on a length and pushes it wide of off as he saw him following the trajectory, wide signaled, too far from the marker on off
fraction short and swirling outside off, tries to pick the bones out of that one but can only belt it down to long off region
low full-toss wide of off, smashes it to deep backward point, fielder strategically placed in that position. very tight, nail-biter! Don't go anywhere
sends it on a length and slants in at off, uppishly whipped to long-on, fielder cleans it up quickly, 6 off 3
bowls full and gun-barrel straight, ball thunders into the front pad and looks very adjacent, plumbest of the lbws, unable to flick and umpire raises the dreaded finger much to the dismay of Shepherd who hits his bat on his pad and is gutted not to finish the game. Now Shamar needs to bring Holder on strike
M Farhaj: "This match turns out to be a Classic T20 "
around the wicket, spears it full and wide, was a full toss, gets the bottom of the bat and sends it along the carpet to long off
that kept very low, bit short and floating wide of off, tries to knock it out of the park again and eyes leg side, does not connect
that is a well-directed lifter around the line off that floors Shepherd as he loses his balance while trying a hook, actually twisted his right foot and looks in some discomfort
goes full and wide of off, spanked violently past backward point for a four, got down low and across off and timed it ever so sweetly, completely changed the complexion of the game!
dug in short and offers width, he remains deep, stands tall and blazes it over long on for a six, employs a classical shot to bring the equation down to 12 from 9
unable to connect, fraction short and meandering outside off, goes hard and swung downtown, unable to connect
bowls full and wide of off, clubs it along the park to sweeper cover, Hasan Nawaz in action again, great tumbling stop, was a good-looking cover drive
touch fuller than a good length and offers width, finds Hasan at sweeper cover who collects on one bounce, was there to be hit, couldn't find a gap though. Well, it's a no ball!
aims for a wide yorker, ends up bowling too far wide across and away from the guideline on off
flays him for a six over deep midwicket, fuller on middle, opens the face, gets front leg out of the way and swings it delightfully for a six, into the stands, 24 off 12 needed, game on!
on a fuller length and nibbling into the pads, clipped to short fine
gets the wide yorker right into the perfect spot, it plugs in as well, unable to thump it on this occasion, Haris applauds
connects on this occasion and finds a boundary, the game is not over yet. Misses the yorker and it's deviating away from the marker, throws his bat at it and the outside edge does the job
another full toss swinging away from wide of off in the air, unable to connect on the thwack through the off side, poor start to the over but Shaheen has been lucky
