11.55pm Karachi Kings struggled to get the ball off the square in the Powerplay, then slumped to 35 for 4. Chris Gayle finally woke up, Pollard unleashed a barrage of big blows and suddenly Karachi threatened a heist. But Wahab held his nerve in the 18th over and took down Pollard. Jordan and Sammy then closed out the game, putting Peshawar in the final. They are, however, sweating on Afridi's fitness; he injured his finger in the 11th over of the chase while attempting a catch and went off the field. He did not return. Will he be fit for the big final on Sunday?
Shahid Afridi tweets: "Happier than ever to reach the finals, @PeshawarZalmi have shown their resolve for the title & my injury wont stop them from winning #HBLPSL"
Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi will pick their foreign players for the final of the PSL from a list of 12
Presentation:
Kamran Akmal is the Man of the Match
Kumar Sangakkara, Karachi captain: Kamran batted well and put a lot of pressure on us. Polly tried his best for us, but we did not have enough partnerships. There was not enough grip [in this pitch] for the spinners. Having said that we have been outstanding, coming back from almost being out of the tournament. We will come back hard next year. All the best to the players playing in Lahore.
Darren Sammy, Peshawar captain: Having asked to bat first, I thought Kamran played an amazing innings. Polly and Gayle started the revival for them but Wahab and Hasan Ali showed the quality. At the end of the day we held our nerve and won it. Not only this year Peshawar had a massive following last year. This is an amazing team.
Najam Sethi, chairman of the PSL: It has been an extraordinary experience. This time the pitches have been bloody good. The team spirit that you saw was very rare. Our boys were interacting with the foreign players. We are now going to Lahore. It shows how far we have come.
That is all we have for you from this match. Do come back for the grand final, a re-match of the first qualifier between Quetta and Peshawar. Until then, goodbye and good night.
Abdullah Saleem: "Wahab Riaz is Man of the Match for me. Pollard almost took the game away from Zalmi when Karachi were almost done and dusted. But Wahab Riaz bowled exceptionally well...yorkers, slower ones, bouncers, everything. Absolutely amazing."
saimi: "Tears in the eyes of Wahab .Real hero today along with Kamran."
Ahsan: "Karachi was excellent in the middle overs, they would've surely qualified if only the top order had performed today"
