beaten on the attempted slap. Ilyas has held on. Short of a length and slanted into the corridor, no room at all as he's caught on the back foot and beaten on the inside edge
Kings vs Qalandars, 27th Match at Abu Dhabi, PSL, Jun 17 2021 - Ball by Ball Commentary
2.10am That is all from our coverage tonight. Good night on behalf of Danyal, Thilak and Binoy - and see you tomorrow!
Imad: I think we were 20 runs short to be honest. It was the pressure of the wickets. The bowlers bowled really really well, according to the plan, and it came off. It's the end of the tournament and you should peak at the right time. We have one more game and if we win, we go through. We are in the right frame of mind. We lose three games, it was really disappointing. We stood and up spoke in the team meetings.
Ahmad: I'm feeling very happy. We tried hard to win the match and played out 100%.
Noor Ahmad is the Player of the Match.
Sohail Akhtar: I think the batting was alright. After the powerplay, for 6-7 overs, we had a bad time. Overall we were alright. But we had lapses in the field that costed about 20 runs. Noor and Imad bowled good spells. The spin overs in the middle - if we went even run-a-ball, we would've done this. Our bowling's going well. Batting is where we've had problems. Having said that, the middle order has done slightly better in the last two matches, so we'll take that forward.
Qasmi: "The better fielding side has won. LQ did not deserve to win today."
Sachi: "Lahore was at the top of the game and now- smh- they really do have badluck with the team."
Ali: "You can't be scoring 36 off 36 balls or 19 off 26 balls in a T20. That's a crime especially when you have played in the opening powerplay. Poor from Fakhar and Hafeez"
ABAE: "Tim David can hit them big but he's not been put in the best situations here with LQ. Needs to be higher up the order."

1.58am Whew, what a game that turned into at the end. Lahore were off to a blazing start in chase, 34 off the first three overs, but lost all their steam when the spinners came on. 16-year-old Noor Ahmad was the star in that phase, with his two wickets for 18 complementing decent spells from Imad Wasim and Danish Aziz. Fakhar Zaman and Hafeez, two marquee players in this side, managed only 55 off 62 balls between them. The pitch did seem to be a touch slower, but Lahore will no doubt feel that they left runs out there. In the end, it took a sensational, stunning stand - 58 off 24 - between Tim David and James Faulkner to keep them in the match. And they kept them in it until two balls were left. But you know when you get six sixes and three fours off the last four overs - and still lose by seven - that something wasn't quite right with the approach earlier. Doesn't help to drop five catches either. Also consider AMir's over for only 7 in the 19th in a whirlwind phase like that.
It's two points for Karachi, who also had saviours in their allrounders at the end of their batting innings. They go to eight points with a game in hand, but remain in fifth on net run rate.
swung off the thick inside edge to deep midwicket's right. It's a low full toss again, Rashid shuffles and once again that dip from Ilyas means no room for the slog. Has a flap at it and can't get it off the ground
12 off 2. Surely now Ilyas will be looking to go back to the yorker. What is Rashid going to do about it?
well he's for the first one! Ilyas errs shorter - and errs badly! It's a length ball with a lot of width outside off. Rashid gets on one knee and scythes this over point
Three sixes needed.
it's taken at long-on! Ilyas has redeemed himself. A low full toss in the corridor, Faulkner looks to shuffle and slug that over wide long-on. But he's lost all his room in doing so, and he can only get bottom-handed loft out to Guptill. This time, he runs in and holds on
18 off 4. This needs to be a six...
solid fielding keeps them to one. It's a low full toss at off stump, Rashid clears the front leg and swings for glory. Gets it off the high part of the bat to long-off's right
Tushar Garg: "I remember someone mentioning that the 7 runs scored off the No ball of Rauf will haunt Lahore at the end of the chase. It looks like he was spot on with his prediction! "
gets it in the blockhole outside off and Faulkner drills that along the floor to long-off
Only seven come off that. Amir knew Rashid was setting up for the wide yorker and dropped it short. The positive for Lahore is Faulkner retains strike. Can Ilyas keep his cool? Faulkner and Lahore need to get 20 - two sixes or three fours needed at the very least. Short third, short fine, extra cover and square leg are in the circle.
another dot ball! Superb, superb stuff from Amir. Bouncer in the corridor, Rashid lines it up and looks for swish. He misses
Taha sh: "Last 12 balls have either a six, a single or a dot, what a match!"
beaten! Amir again, bowling to the plan. The same plan as Ilyas was bowling to, but the experience shows here. He's overpitched slightly again trying to go for the yorker, but the angle and curve means Rashid can't connect on the slash
Amir's been unhittable when bowling to his field out on the off side. Looks like the same plan for Rashid as well. 20 needed off 8.
attempted wide yorker again, is met on the full and sliced straight to deep point
Mujahid: "If LQ somehow squeeze in 15 of Amir's over , it'll be Lahore's game to lose"
nails the wide yorker again. Faulkner chops down on it but that has snuck through from underneath
flicked over deep square! That is majestic from Faulkner. Amir misses by an inch and is punished. Full and at leg stump and he gets it over the line and holds the pose
wide yorker and he can't get it away. Reaches out to try and get under it, toe-ends it to mid-off along the floor
Mid-off and extra cover are in the circle, and there's not a lot of distance between them. Third man and fine leg in the circle. Point and cover out.
Rashid Khan joins Faulkner. Not a bad man to have at this stage. 27 needed off 12 and Imad is going to his most experienced bowler. It is this over the makes or breaks this chase.
Ozzy: "What was that about risking Danish for a 20 run over?"
taken at long-off! Danish takes a smart one, sliding to his right to keep his balance. It's a slower ball, dug in short - sitting up nicely to be slapped. But David can't get elevation on it. It dips and Danish keeps his eyes on it going to his right. Abbas has managed two dot balls alongside the wicket of David
mistimed. Slower ball at a length outside off, lined it up and looked to drill that on the rise. It came off the under-edge, rolled back to the bowler
Tanzeel : "Thank God, still awake to watch a Nail biting contest"
Four sixes in five balls! Only 27 needed now off 14. Lots of deliberation now between bowler and captain. The pressure is showing on his face.
it's a full toss and it is turned over deep square! Oh boy, this is getting out of hand. Thigh high and helped over the boundary with the pace after a step into the off side
Ahsan: "We are witnessing karachi's speciality again, losing easy games. David's hitting remind me of Wiese during the first leg of psl. "
slower ball at a length outside off, pulled to long-on's right
The last three balls have been sixes. The partnership is past 50 in 3.2 overs. They now need 34 off 16. It was 64 off 24 not long ago...
pummeled over the wide long-on boundary again! This is a length ball outside off and he has accepted that gratefully. Old-fashioned slog and it absolutely flies off the middle
whipped over the wide long-on boundary! It's back-of-the-hand slower ball and he's picked it. Loops nicely into the slot outside off, he gets his foot out to it and gets the hands through it quickly
Looks like Ilyas was given a bowling plan for which he didn't quite look ready in that over. Was all over the place. They needed 16 an over before that over, they've got 18. Here's Abbas now.
Mustafa: "Hold on. It's still possible."
carved over deep extra! Full outside off, David shuffles and slices that nicely over the fielder
slower ball at a length on off stump, mistimed pull to deep midwicket
