Out of the ground to finish the game! Bonus point secured by SEC. Markram got well forward, used the pace on the hard-length ball, heaved a pull over square leg with might. Ball sailed over the roof
Super Giants vs Eastern Cape, 14th Match at Gqeberha, SA20, Jan 19 2025 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Eastern Cape won by 6 wickets (with 28 balls remaining)
That's one apiece for these two teams in back-to-back clashes. Paarl Royals will take on Jobueg Super Kings tomorrow. Hope to see for that. Thanks for tuning in here. Take care.
Marco Jansen, POTM: Glad to have it on a string. Going well at the moment. It's not easy to bowl in the powerplay, for me it's all about taking wickets and everything just falls in place, I try to bowl in the channel consistently. We have the best crowd in the country, appreciate them coming out. Stubbs isn't okay with me batting above him. Thought is to try things out sometimes.
SEC up to fourth position now on the points table, DSG at the bottom now
6:37pm: The packed crowd is delighted by the home team winning. The orange is bright and jubilant. SEC did get stuck in the chase but nowhere as close to what DSG experienced. They got off in the powerplay, lost just the one wicket in the phase. Bedingham made a quickfire 39, off 20 balls. Hermann held up an end, Markram cleaned things up with late boundaries. Noor and Maharaj were the picks of the bowlers but the pacers couldn't make inroads.
Bumper to keep Markram in check as he was making room and taking a step forward. Good direction but just higher than the helmet. Let go with the spine of the bat almost on the shoulder
Makes room, gets followed by a low full toss. Chips a semi-controlled flick towards wide long-on
Seven to win in an over for SEC to bag a bonus point
Perfect from Markram. Stays leg side of the length ball and clobbers it on the rise, gets it deep into midwicket and past the boundary on the bounce
New ball brought on, but old one's been returned from outside the ground
Moosed over midwicket, all hand speed. Doesn't bother following through fully as he nailed the contact. Was on one knee almost, got the big wind-up and folllow-through this time. Out of the ground. Bonus point well on the cards now. 11 off seven needed.
Pitched up, a bit of flight given and it's chip-driven over the bowler. Gun-barrel straight. Step hit from Markram, held his shape too
Length on fifth, punched to long-off
Length around off, punched off the back foot to midwicket
Almost a chop-on. Angled in towards fourth on a fullish length. Markram tried to muscle a cut but inside edged it onto QDK's pads. No reaction time there
Full ball is looped and is lofted straight to long-on. He danced down the track and drove hard,
Makes room before going back for the sweep through backward square leg
Makes room and splashes the loopy full ball from outside off to long-on
Length down leg, past the flick
Wide, slow and full. Swat-sweeps it to long-on
Fullish ball on off is worked to long-on
Whips it to deep midwicket off the front foot
Wide and fullish, spins away sharply
Full on fourth, drifted in. Square driven to deep point
Length on the pads, clipped to deep midwicket
Goes for the big sweep but impact was outside the line. Was a full ball
Rocks back and square drives the length ball outside off
Length on middle, worked to deep square leg
Attack for bonus points? Well set for SEC thogh
