full outside off, and Mathews finishes stylishly, driving with a high left elbow and finding the gap to the right of mid-off
India vs Sri Lanka, 1st ODI at Dharamsala, Dec 10 2017 - Ball by Ball Commentary
5.30pm So Sri Lanka have gone 1-0 up. Next up is Mohali on Wednesday. Can Sri Lanka put the hosts under even more pressure? We shall see. Until then, it's goodbye from all of us.

Suranga Lakmal is the player of the match. "Last few years have been very good. Credit to the coaching staff who have done a lot of hard work with me. My fitness, my hard work, my health, everything has come together."
Thisara Perera: "First of all we have to give 200% credit to our bowlers. They were disciplined, and bowled the right length and the right areas. This is an unplayable wicket. We didn't expect that. We expected 250-260, but after that Suranga and Angelo bowled very well. At the moment, [Lakmal] is our first fast bowler. He's done very well in the Test series as well. I have to mention that Upul gave a good start and he's one of our best openers."
Rohit Sharma: "Two games to go, but having said that, we were not up to the mark today with the bat. Not enough runs on the board. The bowlers came out and did what they could. If we had 70-80 more runs, it could have been different, but we lost the match with the bat today. We want to thrive in these type of conditions and come out good. We won't always get to play on flat pitches. Today was not the ideal day for all our batters. It was an eye-opener. Hopefully we can regroup and come back in the next two matches. [Dhoni] has done it for so many years and he knows exactly how to bat in these situations. Someone else with him could have made the difference but he was battling alone. Not such a great experience [to lead for the first time], because we lost, but we've got to forget what happened, and come back in the next two games."
Angelo Mathews: "It's a very pleasing moment. The past few months have not been good for us, but we've remained confident and worked very hard. Two more games to go, we can't relax. The way Suranga Lakmal set the tone was fantastic, followed by all the other bowlers. We never thought it was going to move around that much. We knew it was a bit sticky. In the shorter formats, I've always bowled, and I want to bowl. It's just the workload management in the Test matches, and the selectors were very understanding. I'm very happy to bowl in the shorter formats."
Riyaz Ahamed: "After inhaling all the smoke in Delhi, Sri Lankan's are breathing fire in Dharamsala stadium."
5.08pm And with that, Sri Lanka end their losing streak. They came into this series having lost their last 12 ODIs, but they've gone 1-0 up with a commanding performance here. Mathews took the first wicket, and scored the winning runs too. Upul Tharanga made a breezy, chancy, fragile 49 that set up the chase. But the hero has to be Suranga Lakmal, who bowled his 10 overs in one spell, finished with figures of 10-4-13-4, and wrecked India's top and middle order with his swing, seam and persistent line and length.
India, meanwhile, will not end 2017 as the No. 1 ODI side. They needed to win this ODI series 3-0 to be able to do that.
back of a length down leg, Mathews can't connect with the leg glance
down the track, making himself some room. Bhuvneshwar spots it and bowls a wide length ball, making him reach for it. Tries to smack it over cover but can't put bat to ball
back of a length outside off, Mathews punches to mid-off
length ball outside off, left alone
Bhuvneshwar continues.
back of a length on off stump, defended into the covers. It's almost like he wants to leave the winning hit for Mathews
Lodiya: "Thanks Lakmal and Anji for setting up a perfect Sunday evening for a SL fan."
back of a length close to off stump, dabbed towards backward point
and then a wide. Full, well down the leg side, Dickwella can't connect with the flick
ah, good ball. He's taken a bit of a beating in this over but produces one very good ball in the corridor, just short of a good length, slanting away, and he beats the outside edge as Dickwella shuffles across and looks to dab it behind point
length ball on middle and leg, shuffles across and clips to midwicket
fuller, on off stump this time, and now Dickwella goes over the leg side. Opens up slightly at the hips and whips it over wide mid-on
oh my, what a shot that is. Length ball, but a lot of width, and Dickwella just frees his arms and launches that up and over the cover point region - almost carries all the way
Thanks, Nikhil. Pandya comes back on.
Karthik Krishnaswamy is back for the formalities.
on a length outside off, defended into the cover region.
full outside off, 133 kph, left alone
Dhaval : "India like to test themselves and make comebacks. They have to do it without Kohli this time. Pretty sure they have all the talent. Hope they make this series interesting. "
a bouncer down leg, Dickwella backs away and under-edges a cut to third man. Ungainly
lovely timing. Slightly short on middle and leg, Dickwella picks the length early, goes back and swats a pull through backward square leg
Devraj: "Pune in 2016 for first T20I Kolkata in 2017 for 1st Test And now, Dharamsala for 1st ODI India has always been kind to Sri Lanka in 1st game of the series by preparing a seamer friendly track and then batting first on it."
a slower delivery outside off, driven elegantly to cover
on a length around middle and leg, pushed to mid-on
fullish delivery outside off, skewed off the outside half
naughty from Bhuvi. Good length, but very wide outside off. Mathews cuts towards third man, where Bhuvneshwar runs to his right, gets there but the ball goes through his legs
