that's it! Leading edge to cover and so Sri Lanka have swept the tour, winning the one-day series as well! Good length ball turning in on off stump, he had shuffled across to clip it through midwicket, but had closed the face too early and succumbs
Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka, 2nd ODI at Dhaka, Feb 20 2014 - Match Result
Shakib has become the top scorer for BAN in ODIs with 3715 runs, going past Tamim Iqbal's 3702
Sangakkara has scored 97 fifty-plus scores in ODIs, the most for SL breaking Jayasuriya's record
8.35 pm So that's all we have for you from commentary. Sri Lanka wrap up a well-deserved victory and take an unassailable 2-0 lead. But there is still one more ODI left in the series. That starts Saturday, same time so we look forward to your company and your comments then. But for now, This is Alagappan Muthu saying sayonara
Kumar Sangakkara is the Man of the Match "No, I didn't know I had made 1000 runs against Bangladesh in ODIs. The wicket was pretty good and I was just trying to score as many runs as I can. Trained hard in the nets, made sure I was clear-minded out there and I just wanted to knock it to the sweepers and pick up the singles. The side needed a big knock and I'm glad I delivered. I wasn't worried. Ashan [Priyanjan] struggled a bit, but he fought it out. Angelo was the really important innings, came in and pushed things on. So did Kithuruwan. Just a bit of advice when he [Priyanjan] lost his focus. Keep it simple and don't throw it away. There are time to take risks but then we needed a partnership. He's a good player for us and if he gets his focus clear, he's going to be a player to watch. No secret, just good focus, working hard in the nets. Keeping fit and I'm part of a very good, young side"
"The boys played brilliantly," says Angelo Mathews. We were in a spot of bother when the veteran come in to bat and guided the innings wonderfully with Ashan Priyanjan. I'm enjoying my batting too. Getting it off the middle nicely. He [Priyanjan] bowled to me in the nets and I just couldn't play him so the move worked today. We got a bit more time to acclimatise for the Asia cup and hopefully we do well there too"
8.25 pm "Yeah, I guess the way the boys are getting out is really disappointing. When you get set especially while chasing 290, you should stay on" says Mushfiqur Rahim . "We were getting a couple of partnerships going with Nasir and Shakib, but we lost it. That is where we should learn from Sanga and Mathews. They batted really well. We lost a few early wickets, but we were never too far behind in the run-rate. We are playing for our country so the last match is still important and we will do our best to win"
8.15 pm It was a one-man show from Bangladesh as well, the only trouble was there was no one playing second fiddle to Mushfiqur Rahim's battling half-century. Bangladesh kept losing wickets through rather rash batting. It almost seemed as if Sri Lanka sat back and let the hosts implode. Very disciplined bowling from them, especially the spinners led by Sachithra Senanayake, who apart from his two wickets took two sharp catches as well. Stick around for the presentation.
Rajindra: "Sri Lanka Played cricket while Bangladesh played BASEBALL (except Mushfiqur Bhai). So today Cricket has won against BASEBALL! lol!!!"
loads of flight and almost yorks him. Kept out though
bounce and turn this time cautions Rubel from going for a heave. Dabs it down the pitch
shuffles across and blocks the length ball outside off
length ball with a bit of room outside off, Rubel goes down on one knee and slogs him over midwicket. Meaty strike
goes back and punches to backward point
New batsman is Rubel Hossain
tossed up but this slides down leg. The keeper can't collect it cleanly
the extra ball does the trick for Sri Lanka. Mushi's steered it straight to point! He had kept out so many good yorkers, but this time he was searching for a single to retain strike. Tried to guide it to the left of point, but Senanayake dives to his left and snares a good, low catch. MIght well be the end of Bangladesh's chase tonight. Terrific innings from their captain, if only he'd had a little support
this one leaps off back of a length, but Sunny does well. Soft hands nudges it towards the leg side
full toss on off stump, whips it to mid-on from the crease
very full on off stump, brings down an angled bat to steer it to point
shortish with a bit of room outside off, stays leg side and cuts it away to deep cover and takes the single. Sunny has four balls to face. He better be careful of his toes
great yorker on leg stump but Mushi's defence is strong indeed
slower ball pushed through down the leg side, wided
HMN: "One of the things SL desperately need in all forms of the game is that 'killer instinct'....never allow any chance/room for the opposition!!!!!"
Goni: "just as i was about to write..... 'please mashrafe, do not get carried away when you hit a 6 or a 4. normally you play too many big shorts and get out'..........He gets out!"
flighted on the pads, nudged away towards square leg
Arafat Sunny has one ball to face
so he'll go over midwicket, but he cannot clear the man in the deep. The search for a big hit consumes another Bangladesh batsman. Picks up the one that turns into him and slogs wildly but all he manages to do is drop it down the throat of Thisara Perera
deep cover goes back
inside out and that has been slapped over cover! Mendis is being massacred here as Mashrafe moves outside leg, moves forward and gives it his all. Great power from the former captain
stays leg side of this and creams the length ball with the turn through the covers. These two are not giving up by a long shot
spins away from him as he goes for a massive heave over the leg side. Cannot connect
pushes to long-on for a single
Ajantha Mendis with a great big towel clipped to his trousers comes on
