that's the match! A massive six soars over long-on, and Bravo wheels away in ecstasy before the ball has even touched the ground. He grabs a stump, punches the air, and hurtles into the arms of his jubilant team-mates
Middlesex vs Trinidad & T, at Coolidge, Oct 27 2008 - Ball by Ball Commentary
Trinidad & T won by 5 wickets (with 4 balls remaining)
So that wraps up the proceedings. Trinidad & Tobago seal the contest, and take the spoils. Well played them, I'm Andrew Miller, and join me again tomorrow when T&T return to action with serious hangovers, to take on England.
And now, here come the Trinidad & Tobago players, up onto the podium, to receive their winner's cheque for US$280,000. Daren Ganga claims the spoils, and declares "I'm thrilled. We've worked hard as a team and this is just reward. Being the champions, we didn't want to disappoint Mr Stanford ..." Certainly not, he's been paying their mortgages ever since they were runners-up of the domestic competition in 2006 ....
Now then, here's Sir Viv to unveil the Man of the Match, who will make off with his own cheque for US$20,000. And the man who makes off with the spoils is Ravi Rampaul for his 4 for 25. Well bowled young man.
Time for the presentation. Sir Allen and Sir Viv are up on the podium, as Shaun Udal trudges up to receive his team's cheque for US$100,000. Some small consolation, but he is "bitterly disappointed. We came here to win, but we were sloppy, no excuses. We were outplayed on the night."
Well played Trinidad & Tobago. They restricted Middlesex to a meagre 117, thanks to a brilliant four-wicket haul from Ravi Rampaul, then paced their chase to perfection - a vital holding role from the captain, Daren Ganga, then a breakout partnership of 67 between Denesh Ramdin and Darren Bravo.
To the victors, the spoils. A cheque of US$280,000 will be winging their way shortly as the podium is wheeled onto the outfield, as Middlesex are left to rue a spate of dropped catches - from Joyce, Morgan and Carter - that left their prospects in tatters
bouncer, and well bowled. It's the one for the over, but it's a dot ...
slower ball, and blocked watchfully down the pitch. It's over to Tyron Henderson to try to save the match
Ramdin goes for the glory shot, and he could have paid the price ... his foot is in the air as Scott whips off the bails, and a matchwinning innings has just been brought to an end. A fantastic knock though, and only a miracle can save Middlesex now
Sir Allen is lurking on the boundary's edge
full length, and Ramdin can't cut that one away ...
it's over now! "Start the car!" declares David Lloyd as the ball one-bounces into the crowd at midwicket!
big swipe and that might have been the gamebreaker, but the ball plugged at long-on, and Middlesex breath again
sliced drive to third man
Now then, Middlesex needs wickets, and nothing less. Murtagh returns
cut to deep point, and the groundstaff rush out to replace the stump camera. That's a hint that a stampede may be about to happen ...
overthrows from backward square, and that's just sloppy. Scott kicks the turf in frustration, he knows the game is up
a dramatic pause, as Steve Davis eventually calls a wide. Ramdin was moving at the crease, so Henderson bounced him
dabbed away, and it's now 14 from 14
The Trini Posse, being rabble-roused by Dave, the PA man seated beside me, are now making some noiz...
low full toss, another single to long-off
slower delivery, full length. Well picked and driven down the ground
pulled away, but only one run. That's all they need now ...
Eighteen off the over, which is what T&T now need. Here comes Henderson to try to save the day.
oh dear, a drive along the ground, Malan fumbles to give away a second run, and this game is close to settled now ...
slower delivery, dabbed to third man, and suddenly this match is getting a bit breathless
defended, and now the rate is a run a ball ...
the wheels are coming off! A rank waist-high full-toss, and Ramdin bludgeons it over point for the second six of the over!
in the air again, Morgan comes in to field on the bounce
driven along the ground this time, to Morgan again
dropped, and it goes for a maximum as well! Bravo gave himself room, got right under the ball, and Morgan never looked comfortable as he tried to settle at long-off
