11:04pm And that will be all from us. We hope you enjoyed our coverage and we will be back at it again on Saturday as these two sides clash in the third and final ODI. Until then, from Ashish, Ranjith and myself (Shashwat), it is goodbye. Oh, and if you need to stay updated with what is happening around the cricketing world, ESPNcricinfo, as always, will be your one-stop shop. Take care, folks!

Mitchell Santner, New Zealand captain: Few boys thinking that today would be rained out and gearing up for golf today. With the new ball, looked tricky but credit to Shai and the others to get them to a good score. But this is a tough ground to defend. One of those wickets if you spend a bit of time and get in, like Shai, he played a great hundred. They (our openers) got us off to a great start. I thought it was a good score. Especially the last few overs, they batted really well. One of those grounds where if you can get a good start, you can cash in. There is always one gap everywhere (with four outside the ring), and we exploited that.

Shai Hope, the West Indies captain is also the Player of the Match: (On his innings) I got 109 still it was not enough. Needed to get 120-130 for us to win, and that is how I look at it. Want to give the best chance to my team to win the game. Just about trying to put pressure on them, not allowing them to settle. If they get on top, it can be hard work. Felt I needed to put some impetus into the innings to have a chance of defending this score. Everyone knows this by now that I am one who loves to win. Irrespective of scoring hundreds and fifties, I'd rather score two and five and win, and giving my team the best chance to win. I was trying to maximize the last couple of overs, so happened I got the strike, got a couple away (and got to a hundred). (On the score) I honestly thought it was enough. Clearly it wasn't. certain areas you can look on and improve. With the bat, little bit more runs with the dot balls, maybe putting more pressure on the powerplay. Hindsight is the best sight. We may have gone off the boil with the ball. We did not force them to hit down the ground as much as we wanted to and lost the plot a bit in the middle. He is one of those bowlers who comes in and takes a wicket. Struggling a bit with that hamstring, flares up now and then. Even if he was not there, felt the other guys had the job covered. Did not happen for us, but should have gotten past the line today. When you look at it, you come to NZ, first time in these conditions, the way we have been pushing the game to the back end, pretty much finishing in the last over, it is only a matter of time before we cross the line. We have to find a way to cross the line. To be a great team, you have to keep winning against the best.

Here's Sampath with some more stats. Most consecutive bilateral series wins at home in men's ODIs:

17 - South Africa, 2002 to 2007

11* - New Zealand, 2019 to 2025*

9 - England, 2016 to 2020

10:48pm Wow. What a finish by the NZ skipper. When he walked in, NZ needed 54 off 29, but he went on to crunch 34 off 15, playing the sort of cameo that WI have now become accustomed to on this tour. Latham was there at the other end, doing what was required. Prior to that, Conway and Ravindra had set the tone. Ravindra departed after reaching his fifty but Conway played a major hand, making 90 and ensuring that NZ had a good foundation to launch from.

WI, on the other hand, will be frustrated. They got themselves into a decent position again, only to squander the advantage towards the end. Shepherd being unable to bowl may have played a part, and they will look back on those moments, wondering what they must do to win it and get past the finish line.

Seales to Santner, 1 run

there it is! The captain, fittingly, applies the finishing touches, and he ices this run-chase with a glorious cover drive! Slot ball outside off. Santner gives it all he has and cracks it past extra cover. The ball, he thinks, will race away to the fence, but it does not, meaning he has to do the more boring exercise of grounding his bat at the other end and completing the single. But he will not mind it one bit. Nor will his NZ teammates. They have hunted down 248 in 34 overs, and they have now taken an unassailable lead in this series!

Seales to Latham, 1 run

very full just outside off. Latham cannot get under it and tugs it towards deep mid wicket. Scores level!

NZ just two away now and they have a Free hit to tuck into

Seales to Latham, (no ball) FOUR runs

oh dearie me - that is the worst ball to bowl at this stage! Almost a head-high full toss that takes Latham's head off. Latham, in the end, does well to arch his back and glide it over the keeper's head. One bounce and into the fence, and that has been called a No ball too, unsurprisingly. What a moment to err!

7 off 5 now. Seales stays around the wicket

33.1
1
Seales to Santner, 1 run

full toss wide outside off. Santner moves across his stumps early and then forehands it towards deep mid wicket. Rafael Nadal would have been proud of the top spin on that!

Seales to bowl the final over of this game. NZ need 8 to win this match and the series. WI, if they concede six or less, will keep it alive. Santner on strike

Springer to Santner, 1 run

half-volley outside off. Santner laces this drive but also picks out the sweeper on the cover fence. Just a single but importantly, he keeps strike

9 off 7. WI need a wicket here ideally

32.6
1w
Springer to Santner, 1 wide

and Springer has to reload this. Tries to hide it full and wide outside off. Too wide, though. Santner shoulders arms, and the umpire has to indulge in some more arm exercise himself

10 off 7. Big ball here

32.5
Springer to Santner, no run

brilliant slower ball outside off. May have ended up as a full toss but Santner was done in completely. Swings too early and misses. Not far away from off stump either

32.4
1
Springer to Latham, 1 run

off-pace and into the track just outside off. Latham heaves at it and drags it towards short fine leg. Just a single

Dave: "You've got to love a good close, tense, exciting, nail biting, "could go either way" match like this!"

1
Springer to Santner, 1 run

back of a length delivery wide outside off. Santner tries to hit it too hard and chunks it into the off side

12 off 10, and Santner is threatening to finish this with room to spare

32.2
6
Springer to Santner, SIX runs

Santner is taking NZ home here! This is a proper buffet ball and Springer is lucky this is not a No ball on height. Seems to dip just under the waist outside off but Santner, having walked across, just shovels it over deep square leg!

32.1
4
Springer to Santner, FOUR runs

shot! Full just outside off and Santner makes Springer pay. He gives himself room and then carves it over cover point for four!

goes for the wide yorker but errs on the wider side. Left alone by Latham and called a wide

31.5
Forde to Latham, no run

another full toss, but this is wide outside off. Santner reaches out for it and slaps it towards deep cover

Mid off goes back. Deep square leg comes up

31.3
4
Forde to Santner, FOUR runs

another full toss, and another body blow to WI's hopes! A pick-your-spot kind of delivery outside off. Santner goes through the line and lofts it over mid off!

30 off 16 now. 10 off this over already

31.2

Forde to Santner, SIX runs

Santner goes massive! Juicy full toss on leg stump and Santner says thank you very much. Fast hands through the ball and Santner clubs this over cow corner!

31.1

Forde to Santner, FOUR runs

slower yorker just outside off. Santner jams down on it and squeezes it past the bowler. Springer moves around to his right from long off, but his foot is touching the rope as he slides and tries to parry the ball back into play. Another important boundary for NZ!

40 off 18. Forde to bowl out

end of over 319 runs

Springer to Latham, no run

full toss hung up wide outside off and Latham misses out. Swishes at it but does not make any sort of contact

Abhimanyu : "Latham has been short of runs in ODI cricket and its no better time to prove yourself than here"

30.5

Springer to Latham, FOUR runs

vital, vital boundary for NZ! Tries to follow the batter outside leg with a yorker but ends up bowling a full toss. Latham uses the angle and whips it past square leg, also beating deep mid wicket running to his left!
