and Jadeja does the honours and Rohit has the satisfaction of seeing India through! Short and pulled away past midwicket, India get a 2-0 lead
The way Rohit and Kohli batted would suggest that this was a cakewalk but it wasn't so. Things could have been tougher for India had West Indies applied the pressure, perhaps attacked a bit more. The field was pushed back for the part-timers and it seemed like they were waiting for India to throw it away and panic. The Kohli-Rohit stand bodes well for India. It's ironic that these two are competing for the No.6 slot in Tests.
Had it not been for Rampaul's freaky 86 at No.10, this match would have been hopelessly one-sided. The crowd had a full game and certainly got their money's worth. One worry for India - the inability to bowl yorkers and finish things off with the ball when the opposition is beaten and down. Wasim and Waqar were experts at this.
Here's the presentation:
Sammy: That last-wicket stand gave us a lot of inspiration. It shows the fight in this team. We just can't get over the line though. Sooner rather than later we can get that final push. We'll keep our head up and come strongly at the Indians again. Roach's had a tough six months with catches being dropped off him."
Sehwag: Our bowlers did fantastically with the new ball. It was an off day for Ashwin but Jadeja bowled well. Great innings by Rampaul. The day belongs to him. I tried all combinations to get him out. Rohit and Virat batted very maturely."
Kohli is the Man of the Match: Two centuries in two games at this venue but the pitches were different. This one needed more hard work. People love cricket here and they come out in thousands. Always great to bat with Rohit, we can learn to build partnerships. Always a pleasure to watch him bat. Not much of dew surprisingly. It was seaming around early on. I know the feeling when you go through a bad patch I hope to extend this good form."
That's it from us here. Thanks very much for joining us. The cricket never stops. We'll see you again very soon. Cheers.
The century will elude Rohit
too wide, too wide for him to chase that! Fumble by the keeper and that allows another run
punches it past the bowler and down the ground
elegant! Slower ball on the off stump and he gets under the bounce and lofts through the line over long-off, clean strike, he's on 89
tucks it down to square leg for a quick single
makes room and swats a length delivery over extra cover for a couple
aims for the yorker but its full again and he places it straight to deep square leg
low full toss on the off stump and he pushes it down to mid-off
full on the pads and worked away easily to long-on, he will retain the strike
too short really and Jadeja has time to fetch it and pull along the ground to deep midwicket
full on the pads and eased away, I think WI should get the fielders in just to make him think
pulls but mistimes it, finds the gap at midwicket to pick up the single
the field is up or Jadeja, he punches it straight to mid-off and decides not to run
squeezes out a yorker to the off side and sets off for a quick single
Suhail: "Now now now! Is there a twist in the 'tail'?"
squeezes out a yorker outside off, hesitation and Jadeja has to scamper back to the crease
leaves alone a slower ball which keeps a bit low
India are still well on track but another wicket here and panic could set in
that's another one back in the pavilion! Raina gets a short ball straight up, he gets across to pull but it's a very half-hearted shot, feather edge and Ramdin and Roach know they've got their man
aims for his toes again and he squeezes it out to long-on for an easy single
bowls a shorter length and he pulls it to midwicket
starts off with a yorker and he squeezes it out to mid-on
