full and wide, an under edge carries to fine leg for a run to take New Zealand to a comfortable win against three-time champions Australia
AUS Women vs NZ Women, 10th Match, Group A at Nagpur, Mar 21 2016 - Match Result
NZ Women won by 6 wickets (with 22 balls remaining)
6.02pm New Zealand go three in three. A highly comfortable win against a quality Australia side. They should be through to the semis now. Chasing 104, it was Bates and Priest that set it up with a sensational stand in quick time. A few wickets in the middle made it interesting for a little while but Australia were always chasing the game. In the end, their 103 was nowhere near enough. A quality all-round performance this from New Zealand.
Leigh Kasperek is the Player of the Match: "It is pretty exciting, and a great bunch of girls. I thought all the bowlers bowled pretty well to keep them under 120."
Suzie Bates: "We have found the funny side (the long day). Really proud of the way we played today but under no illusion. I'm sure if we play the way we are we can win it. We are treating every game as a knockout game. if things go our way, we can win it."
Meg Lanning: "Obviously disappointing. we never quite got into the game. Once you get on the back foot, very difficult. NZ outplayed us in this game. Harris would have been handy on a wicket like this but our squad is very capable, we have just not been able to put it on the park often enough. We just didn't play well enough and NZ did."
phew, lovely pace and the offbreak rips past the outside edge
Just one required.
nurdled to midwicket
whipped away for one to deep square leg
fullish on off, pushed to cover
gone. Devine looks to go down the ground but some away movement takes the outside edge which spoons up for third man to take, tracking back.
full down leg, pings off the thigh pad towards square leg
great placement. Short on middle, AS picks the gap at square leg and pulls it with enough power for four. Easy
tossed up outside off, Devine leaves with a beaming smile. That almost hit off
in the gap again and four more. Great batting. Too full outside off, powered past wide mid-off for four
slowed up outside off, played back
overpitched and smashed down the ground for four. Too full and Devine picks a lovely spot in the ground to attack. All power
Hard to see Australia coming back from this.
uppishly driven to deep cover
oh no. Perry lets it go through. Flat delivery on middle, swatted away to deep midwicket where Perry is beaten by some late spin.
full and straight, pushed to mid-off
full down leg, easy pickings. Worked to fine leg for another run. Aus don't quite have the luxury of poor balls.
pushed to the sweeper cover
A very Mitch Starc-like action
thrashed over point for four. Too much width this time. Devine crashes it and doesn't bother keeping it down.
slowish outside off, punched to point
tight lines, slow outside off on a fullish length. Too close to cut, missed
