Ashley Mallett's National Spin Academy Training Programme

Mr. Ashley Mallet who was appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket as Consultant Spin Coach conducted his 1st three week coaching programme from 17th April to 6th of May 2006.

Over 200 junior (over 14 years) and senior spin bowlers were invited with Provincial, Club and School coaches to pick different squads of Off Spin, Left Arm Orthodox , Right Arm Leg Spin and Chinaman. They were filmed and actions were analyzed individually and each bowler was given a check list with instructions to do follow up work with their School/Club and Provincial coaches.

Bowlers who attended were selected in to three groups with a maximum of 12 bowlers per group. (4th group to be selected as follows)

1). CUBS- (Age group to be considered - below 13 years)

Ruwan Kalpage , National spin bowling coach will be visiting all provinces to identify best available under 13 spinners and select a maximum of twelve (12) bowlers for this group.

2). JUNIORS- (Age group to be considered- between 14 to 17years.)
