Mumbai defeated Gujarat by nine wickets to collect eight points in the
West Zone Ranji Trophy match at Wankhede stadium on Tuesday.
Gujarat began the day losing opener Vivek Gandhi (54) to offspinner
Ramesh Powar. Veteran Mukund Parmar scored 43 off 88 deliveries with
seven boundaries. Nilesh Modi stuck to his task and battled hard
during the day but was dismissed for 90 (off 281 balls,12 boundaries),
with the score board reading 237 for six. Thirteen runs later the
Gujarat innings ended on 250 in 109.4 overs. Sairaj Bahutule put his
leggies to effect use scalping five for 58 and Ramesh Powar picked up
three for 77 .
Mumbai needed four runs to clinche victory. Opener Vinayak Mane was
dismissed with one run on the board. Wasim Jaffer (4 not out) and
Robin Morris got the runs in the second over without any further
damage.
