Bothra century takes Diamonds to victory; Dimona C remain undefeated

Shailesh Bothra scored 103 not out to give Diamonds a 5 wicket win over Lod, their second straight win after a poor start to the season in which they lost their first three games. At the top of Division 2, Dimona C extended their lead, remaining undefeated this season after a tight 13-run win over Lions Be'er Sheva.

Batting first having won the toss in Ashdod on Saturday, Yossi Satamkar (46) and Ravi Khanna (27) both made contributions at the top of the order, but Lod would have been dissapointed to be dismissed for 195. Opening the innings, Bothra shared valuable partnerships with Prashanat (42) and Anis Zaveri (33), and although Avner Waskar (3 for 24) kept Lod in the game, Bothra remained undefeated as Diamonds reached their target with two overs to spare.

Sammy Dandekar (62), Danny Ashtamkar (51) and Jacky Divekar (50) all scored half centuries as Dimona C piled on the runs against Lions Be'er Sheva in Be'er Sheva on Saturday, totaling 247 for nine in their allotted 40 overs. Young leg spinner Ronen Wasker was once again the star bowler for the home team, taking four for 28 in his eight overs to continue his fantastic season with the ball.

Lions Be'er Sheva made a brave effort to reach their target, with Norman Sankar (79) leading the way, sharing a 93-run second wicket stand with Robin Shapurkar (36). The task was just beyond them however, as Dimona C managed to restrict the score to 234 for 5.

The other Divison 2 game scheduled for the weekend between Be'er Sheva A and Neve Yonatan was postponed due to the Shavuot holiday.
